Okay so where do I even begin..I got hired at target july of 2012. I was excited because I was 16 so it was my first job. Plus I liked shopping at target so I couldnt argue with that! So the first day of training was an epic fail. We were taught nothing at all. I was hired as a cashier and was told nothing about the job description..or at least they left out a huge detail…those damn redcards. I’m pretty social. Though I don’t enjoy trying to enforce something that someone doesn’t want. Months passed and I was getting harrassed by my stupid manager every shift. Blah blah blah you can’t go home until you get a red card.

So, working at Target I have developed a lot of pet peeves while working the front lanes as a cashier and cart attendant that irritate me everyday. After reading my list, post your pet peeves in the comments

I’m 16, been working at Target for less than a month, and I already want to quit! The “guests” are rude and expect too much for a seasonal employee, plus I just started. The people who work there for the most part seem nice enough, but there is nobody at my store my age and they are all expecting too much of me. I’m on the Sales Floor, and I was never told which part of the Sales Floor I was hired for, like Hardlines or Softlines and nobody else knows. I get decent pay, at $11.50/h CAD but to me, who doesn’t need a job to support myself (yet), it’s not worth my mental well-being. It’s terrible job, and I would never recommend it to anybody. I have been calling in sick for the past 3 days because they are putting too much stress on me. anybody have ANY suggestions on how to quit QUICKLY? It’s very important to me. I’m at the Red Deer Alberta location.

most of the crap i rant about is kinda disorganized, so here’s a little about me to help you understand what’s going on: i’m what the gstl likes to call “talented” meaning i am cross trained in a few areas. what ever they want. yippee.
today i was so pissed off and disgusted with myself that i threw up half way during my shift. this happens like every week or so.

I’m a cashier at Target, I hate the hell out of it as I have never liked human interaction and have been anti social since my young life. Naturally I’m just an independent introverted person. I went to work today, I didn’t ask anybody about save 5% with our red card it’s great. My team lead talks to me in the HR office, why haven’t you done your job? What? “Your obligation is to ask the guests if they’d like the red card and tell them about the benefits.” Truthful as I am I said to her I’m sorry and that I am tired as I am always tired in the morning hours barely being able to focus.

Why they would they would hire a GSTL off the street with no retail experience, and whose only job was flipping burgers at McDonalds? no college, and i’m not quite sure if she even finished high school. surely she knew someone, wouldn’t you think?
There are a handful of people in the store who are very qualified to handle the position.Three of those people applied for the job but were told that they were hiring someone new to target who had more experience. If it were you, wouldn’t you feel like it would be a slap in the face?. I feel bad for the people who were turned down. I see them training this new person and see her talking down to them. I’m waiting for her to fall on her face. She is a young girl, who has no understanding that you have to be nice to people on the way up, because you will need them on the way down.
I do not understand target. This was by no means an improvement for the company. It has made an already low morale place, even worse.

I started working for target on the 5th of November. This is my very first job. I really did not need a job but I needed the experience. I am studying to become a Registered Nurse and later a CRNA. My first day was great because I had 2 wonderful ladies training me. However, the other 2 are just plain HORRIBLE. They are rude and look at me like I don’t know a thing. The 2 wonderful women that trained me were impressed as how fast I learned everything because of the fact that I never in my life cashiered. Anyway, those two are just plain rude and evil. They talk about employees that work under them like they’re worthless and scum.

So, I started working at Target in the softlines section yesterday. I am working seasonal. This is my first job EVER. I’ve never had previous cash register experience or retail experience at all. Yesterday, I was only trained on the register for about an hour and a half-2 hours. I think I got the hang of using the register, but i’m definitely not perfect yet! I’m pretty slow. Today was my second day and I was being trained in the softlines section. First of all, I feel like everything has been so unorganized. My originally-designated trainer didn’t even know she was supposed to be training me! So a team leader just chose a random worker from softlines to train me. Then a manager found me while my trainer was away at one point, and asked me to backup on the cash registers but I couldn’t do it because I wasn’t even “in the system” yet.

in 2007 I got hired in Las Vegas to work at a new Target up the street from me. My job was known as “zoning.” I pull the merchandise forward on the racks, and create the illusion that they are stuffed full with merchandise. My hours were every single fucking day – 2pm to typically 1 in the morning.
Yes. Extremely easy. But dancing monkey jobs are not fulfilling. My start pay was $6.50. Even with full time hours, I barely made two hundred dollars every pay check. My ninety day raise was five cents.
I had no life. I missed on out numerous amazing family experiences and events. Could not afford to move out on my own, or buy a new car. I worked has hard as I could, and there was no pay off at the end of the day. I firmly believe that if you’re going to devote your entire existence to an occupation, there should be something in it for you.

Ok…… so. I’m working at Tarshit as a cashier and I fucking hate it. To give an example of how my fucking day goes: Yesterday I had a lady w a Gain laundry detergent and when I went to ring it up it had a tear in it that spilled some of it all fucking over my counter and floor… so basically I have to pick up the fucking phone and hit “0” to get the operator. Guess who the fucking operator is? A fucking newbie who has no fucking CLUE what the fuck to do. I call her and I’m like “hi I need an item replacement on isle 9” and she then calls someone and leaves a MESSAGE “isle 9 needs something”. So I call back in 3 mins after fucking NO ONE shows up and I’m like “um are sending someone?” her fucking response:
