I couldn’t wait to quit target to post about it so watch out because it’s a long rant. I started working at the hell hole that is target at around beginning of July and my God was applying here is a giant mistake. I got called and interviewed and started as a cashier as most of us do and as target does best they hounded me and harassed me to get red cards, breathing over my neck, coaching me, role playing, amongst other bullshit and no your little incentive of Starbucks or little bag of goodies doesn’t make me more compelled to get red cards so fuck off.

So I worked for target in a hardlines position for a good 3 months only to be fired two days before my ninety days was up. While California is an at will employment state they don’t need a reason. They need even less while in your ninety days. From day one my boss had a vendetta against me. She consistently gave me three departments to cover usually toys hba and sporting goods. Toward the end of my shift she would bring everyone over to point of things I did wrong and have everyone fix my horrible zone. When she fired me i asked for a reason why and she gave me the arbitrary reason of “I just feel like this job isn’t a good fit for you.” later do I find out that my executive team lead didn’t even know she wanted to fire me and that HR said if she wanted me gone she would have to be the one to do it.

Hello Everyone
So I’ve worked at Target for about A year and 8 months or so. Well what can I say I started as a Sales floor TM and electronics TM. Well throughout my whole year I was never schudeled for an electronics shift until after my first year the two times I was scheduled was on low and behold Black Friday and the day the PS4 came out. Throughout that year I made friends with a lot of the team member all cool people. I also started to notice this guy that worked electronics was a total douche bag who thought he was above everyone else cuz his brother was dating the HR ETL’s sister. He said he would get fired cuz he has immunity. That dumbass never did anything he would always be far away from the boat never answer the phone always would flirt with any girl that was there and would leave an effin mess at the boat ALL THE TIME!!! The Senior Team Lead was a bit of a jerk as well always had someone else do his job that he couldn’t finish which was up to douchbag guy to do it. Which he was basically his bitch. Haha

I got hired for Target in March of 2013. They were looking for Team Members to set up the store and be there when the doors were opened for the first time. The sales in Ontario were great, black Friday every day. So I has hired as a cashier, promised 40 hours in the first month of opening, and at least 25 hours a week to qualify for part time benefits. It was great, setting up the store, making new friends, knowing who I was going to be working with. The planarama hours were great, 30+ a week, they were making everyone happy.

As predicted I have been “let go” at the end of the season despite always showing up for work, never making any trouble, always being on time, always being polite to the “guest,” and complying with all of the ridiculous demands of the TLs, GSAs, GSTLs, LODs and everyone else with a power complex and nothing better to do then harass the other team members. I can’t say I’m too sad to have been let go though, because honestly this has to have been one of the worst job experiences I have ever had.
I loved knowing that every time I went into work somebody else was going to get on my ass for not following a rule for a job that I had never been trained on. I also loved knowing that all the team leads and GSTL’s were going to treat me like I was a moronic misbehaving child in front of the customers despite having done nothing wrong. Watching all of the team leads and their favorite team members get together and make fun of the other team members like they were still in fucking middle school was always a treat. And it’s great that my competency was what made the team leads hate me but also give me all the extra tasks at the same time.

I quit Target almost a year ago, but my passionate hatred for this hellish company still pulses like a writhing demon inside of my body. Okay, it’s not quite THAT dramatic, but I do fucking hate Target with a good chunk of my cold heart. I quit because I was sick of r*****s who call themselves “leaders” wandering around, poking their PDA in an attempt to look busy, all the while telling us what to do because they had no idea how to do it themselves. That, or they were too fucking lazy.
I am going to college now to major in Forensic Science, with a minor in Criminal Justice. I won’t lie; one of my hopes is that I’ll eventually stumble upon a former boss as the victim in a crime scene. But I digress…I started working at Target because of their flexible schedule, allowing for me to attend college without much fuss.
I met my now-husband at Target. He is the “Signing Guy” as I call him, since Target’s wishy-washy ways cause Team Members’ titles to be changed at the drop of a hat so that the corporation has a good excuse to cap out people at even lower wage limits. My husband has busted his ass for Target for almost 6 years now. Thankfully, he’ll be leaving as soon as we relocate to accommodate my college studies. However, as of now, he remains a slave to the industry.
He has found the wonderful feeling that all jaded Target employees eventually discover: the feeling of not giving a shit anymore.
