    Aren’t 15 minute breaks optional?

If they are, then why was my TL giving me shit for not taking one of them on Thursday? This woman (if you want to call her that) is fucking nuts. She put in her two week notice that day (thank god), and I’m the one who’s in line to take her spot. She started lecturing me when I helped my teammates when it looked like they were behind on the CAF. What am I supposed to do? If I let them fail, we still get shit for missing batches. I’d rather not miss CAFs. As it turns out, they didn’t need my help, but I figure better safe than sorry, right? Nope. Apparently, I don’t display leadership qualities. If leadership means sitting back and while your team’s chances of failing increases, then maybe I’m not the guy for the job.

  • Hello forum users!! I recently stumbled upon this forum about 3 or 4 days ago. I googled “Working at Target” because I was really nervous for my 1st day at cash register which was yesterday and to be honest it wasn’t so bad. I first shadowed an employee who’s been there for 3 years and than shadowed someone who has been there for about 4-weeks now. They were both really friendly and patient with me and thank god because I thought I was going to get some jerk who would be constantly breathing down the back of my neck or showing me “his/her proper” way of doing things.

So basically my shift last night was 5-10pm along with two other new people, from 5 to 7 we were on a training register than from about 7:15 to 8:00 we had to take this alcohol test and hazard material test. So from about 8:15 onward, I was put on the register with an employee behind me just in case I mess up. The night went pretty smooth with customers, it was funny though because all of my customers would ask “Your new here huh? I can tell.” I had a few that would say stuff as “Yea I know, I got a lot of shit to buy. So I hope I don’t give you a hard time, fuck I’m tired I just want to go home now.” and than he would giggle. I did NOT offer the redcard because I wanted to get the hang of the buttons and the employee with me was all like “That’s ok, it’s good to try and get that first and the redcard stuff will come later to you. No worries!” I felt like giving her a hug but I didn’t, lol but it might of looked like sexual harassment.

    LOD turned SOB

Awhile back I was called off to the side to discuss the responsibilities of the Cart Attendant job. I know the responsibilites just fine because I’ve been doing the job for years. The GSA decided to give me a talking to because the spill stations weren’t being checked enough. I responded with something along the lines of, “all you have to do is ask.” For that I got this response, “duties that the Cart Attendants are responsibile aren’t getting done.” As if I’m responsible for five other guys when I’m not even at work.

    They’re doing it again

Damn it, they’re playing dumb with my availability again, trying to make me come in during times that I can’t. I put in my fall semester availability on Saturday, even after I had a talk with my ETL about trying to have my work hours coincide with my schedule as well as my career pursuits. I’m pretty sure he just spaced on the whole thing and never got around to accepting it in the system. That allowed my team leader to see it first, and she flat out denied it and made me submit a new one today. The only problem is, it won’t be applied until the week after I need it to start. I brought this up to my ETL, but you know how that goes. Now I’m going to have to fight HR for 2 weeks, trying to get them to schedule me for times that I can actually work. I’ll be calling out and getting people to cover my shifts. My attendance sucks and it’s a wonder I still have a job. I guess it’s because when I’m there, you can actually tell. I really don’t care about attendance, and as you know, I really don’t care for this job. This piece of shit is all I have to fund my education.

I swear when I ask an ETL for help, I feel like Grandpa Joe when Willy Wonka yelled at him. “YOU GET NOTHING!! YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR!!”

    Fuckin bullseye…

    Another one for T1846

Totally amazing, this website kicks ass! Even though we don’t know who’s who on here I’m glad we’re doing it together. That’s how it should be, we as little bitty team members who get stepped on, peed on, spit on and stomped on should watch each others back.

Dont trust anyone higher than you, don’t trust any member of management who says they will help, shit might as well hang yourself. These ETL’s are so so fake and you can see right through them. ALL OF THEM except for one. The only one that I personally think is real is the hard lines Etl. I’m not gonna mention her name but we all know who she is.

Do I trust her? Yes. Would I confide in her to tell her what and how I feel? Maybe.

  • This whole store is on a very low morale. We all wish things would be better, but that will never happen. Everyone is out to fuck you without Vaseline.

I wish we all had the balls to just say FUCK YOU and quit on all these dumb hoes.

  • So a very good friend of mine was talked to about “expressing” himself about his own personal life. Fucking really???? What the fuck is the ETL’s fucking problem! we and I say we because a lot of us have gotten spoke to about that as well. Front lanes, backroom, sales floor every where every department has gotten spoke to about this bullshit!

Who cares if I want to talk about or vent about what I’m going through, it’s my choice. These motherfuckers wanna take away our freedom if speech! Get a fucken life bunch of idiots. Mind your own lame ass lives. If I wanna talk about what color and texture my shit was today when I took a shit THAT’S MY CHOICE!

You all managers should just go back to school and learn how to work on your own instead of in pairs like all of you always do. You guys are a disgrace to the morale of this store, this store is fucking ridiculous and all of you think your shit don’t stink. Go fuck yourselves!

Sometimes working at Target is make work.

Working as a Cart Attendant can be tolerable. Unless some high in the sky LOD is on your case. One of the worst things about working the Cart Attendant job is that supervisors and “guests” expect you to dry off the carts whenever it rains. Okay I dry them off, but get this, that isn’t even satasfactory anymore. Whenever it rains I’m hassled about putting dry carts near the isle where Starbucks is. This requires me to rearrange the entire lot of carts. Taking already dry carts near the cart pusher and repositioning them on the other side of the cart area, this of course eats up time I could be using for other things. This is just a bunch of make work. I don’t see what’s wrong with just drying the carts and putting them in any lane I choose. Besides, no matter how well I dry the carts I always get this trademark remark from the “guests” “This cart is wet.” I chuckle everytime they whine this line out like a cat that just had it’s foot stepped on. I mean they just walked through rain to get in the store and they’re suprised that there’s still water on the carts. One time I had to say this after I heard the whinging about a cart being wet, “That’s what happens when it rains,” I got the nastiest look. But seriously, I shouldn’t have to explain why rain makes things wet.

    Go fetch it.

Target should change it’s name to Go Fetch’ It and here’s why. Working as a Cart Attendant I have to obviously do Carts but also: hangers, reshop, baskets, bringing back motorized carts, spills, wiping off carts when it rains and some other stuff that I’m forgeting. This isn’t about me whining about the Cart Attendant job it’s about what happens in the last half and hour of some shifts. Occasionaly I get asked or demanded to, get milk for Starbucks. Now in my opinion I think Food Avenue was just fine. I loved their chicken strips and popcorn. Nowdays I never shop at Starbucks. I don’t even like coffee. In my opinion it shouldn’t be in the store, it’s just a stupid fad. Anyway, Starbucks is uasually manned by two girls, until the last hour of my shift. Than they like to ask me to go get milk from them. Are you serious? Where did they get the idea that I have fifteen minutes to waste in the cooler filling up a cart with milk and whipping cream, that we almost never have. I’ve got other stuff to do. I would so love it if one of the ETL’s or LOD’s had to do that and freeze their little butts off while they’re at it.

  • 1371 isn’t a bad store to work at. The employees are really nice and very chill…this includes 99% of the management as well.

The only problems I have is the constant NEEDS and wants for Cart Attendants. I’ve been pushing carts at my store since late ’06 and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it until around ’12. We were only expected to do our job and everything was hunky-dory. Out of the blue, something changed…

We are expected to cover cashiers, Target Cafe, Guest Service, and sometimes GSA’s for their breaks. We are to take the Salesfloor’s trash to the backroom, clean the breakroom, clean Target Cafe at closing time, zone the salesfloor when the store closes, etc…. All on top of our own responsibilities. Do we get paid extra for this? Nope.

I brought all of this up to my HR-TL and just last week…I’ve been given a break. He informed me that I will be scheduled to leave at 10 so I can leave once the closing announcements are made. At least that’s a start, right?

Next, I’ll be contacting Corporate for a change in pay grade. Being on the same pay grade as a cashier is a bit insulting, especially when Electronics gets a pay grade higher.

We do the cleaning, the carts, the zoning,… the poop, pee, blood, vomit…. the heat, the cold, rain, sun…. We do everything. We are the slave laborers of Target.
    UNITE!!! Let’s get paid more!

    PS… End rant.
