So i applied at Target online and within the next two days they called and said my availability would not work. So the HR lady completely changed my hours! But I really couldn’t complain I need a job soo badly. I had my interview on the phone which i think I did horrible but they didnt even ask the “normal” questions that they should and usually ask. They asked me ” Describe a time where you exceeded someones expectations?” I DONT KNOW. That’s THEIR opinion if i did or not…. but really, i think they only want people that can work a lot of hours because they kept bringing my availability up and how much hours I can work. So know im just waiting. The person that interviewed me told me I have to wait 2 weeks and they will get in touch with me. Okay i have a lot of questions. 1) Me waiting for 2 weeks… does that mean that i will get the job or should I just start looking for another one.? ( She said they will call or mail me. If I have to wait 2 weeks i feel like they are just going to mail me a letter saying sorry you didnt get the job. because why else would i have to wait 2 weeks?!. 2) Is Target really a bad job.? (This would be my first job) Do you guys think it would be a good first job to start. Thanks for any feedback! (:

(2) Just in case other people haven’t seen my other post, I was recently hired at Target. They told me “We saw on your application that your availability is 35+ hours a week but as of right now, we are can only give you 20 hours, maximum, a week.” She said that because the store has been slow lately. But, when the holidays come by, she said that my hours are going to be doubled. So I thought “Well that’s fine, in the meantime I’ll look for a second job.” My last day there was the 15th, training on Sales Floor. I looked at the schedule before I left and saw that my next work day is on the 25th, next Sunday. That’s a whole 10 DAYS!! So far my experience working there has been “hhmm, this place is, ok” …. my co-workers seem to ignore me when I call for help, customers have given me weird looks for god knows whatever reason and they seem to always be pissed, I’m really slow at register and so far I only consider 1 person to be my friend and trust. So this is where I would like some suggestions.
Likes(1)Dislikes(2) After two years of being a stay-at-home mom, I got a job working for Target as a Starbucks Barista. And I have to say that at first, it was pretty amazing. Everyone was super nice, the pay and hours looked great. And then, three days into training some strange things came into light. One of the girls training me had put her two weeks notice in because she doesn’t get along with the Starbucks Lead. Another, everyone was told that I was fully trained and needed absolutely no training. While I have Starbucks experience, it had been two years since I worked and I even made that perfectly clear during my interview.
Nobody wanted to train me.
So basically, I was getting re-accustomed to a completely different layout and trying to remember things from two years ago all while the girl who is quitting was telling me how to do things that were completely wrong. On my third day, I was told to ignore everything this girl said. Almost all of my shifts were with her and they were mid-shifts.
Likes(10)Dislikes(4) I was going on break or maybe lunch, satisfied that I wouldn’t have to deal with a wall of “guests” for at least a good fifteen minutes or a half hour. A guest approached me right when I turned off my walkie and asks “Does Target have a Jewelry area?” My first reaction was to think to myself, “Of course we do you idiot.” I refrained from lashing out, realizing that this elderly customer had not come to Target in a long while and was most likely unaware that we no longer have anyone stationed at the Jewelry station. I informed her that if she needed help she’d have to ask for it. She than asked if they’d replace her watch battery, I informed her that unless she bought the watch at Target she’s out of luck. This is a terrible policy, why penalize people even employees for not buying the watch at Target? You’d still be getting their business, even if it’s just changing the battery. The women amazed at the service she wouldn’t be getting went on her way. I hope she bought less than she initially planned.

She put in her two week notice that day (thank god), and I’m the one who’s in line to take her spot. She started lecturing me when I helped my teammates when it looked like they were behind on the CAF. What am I supposed to do? If I let them fail, we still get shit for missing batches. I’d rather not miss CAFs. As it turns out, they didn’t need my help, but I figure better safe than sorry, right? Nope. Apparently, I don’t display leadership qualities. If leadership means sitting back and while your team’s chances of failing increases, then maybe I’m not the guy for the job.

I googled “Working at Target” because I was really nervous for my 1st day at cash register which was yesterday and to be honest it wasn’t so bad. I first shadowed an employee who’s been there for 3 years and than shadowed someone who has been there for about 4-weeks now. They were both really friendly and patient with me and thank god because I thought I was going to get some jerk who would be constantly breathing down the back of my neck or showing me “his/her proper” way of doing things.
So basically my shift last night was 5-10pm along with two other new people, from 5 to 7 we were on a training register than from about 7:15 to 8:00 we had to take this alcohol test and hazard material test. So from about 8:15 onward, I was put on the register with an employee behind me just in case I mess up. The night went pretty smooth with customers, it was funny though because all of my customers would ask “Your new here huh? I can tell.” I had a few that would say stuff as “Yea I know, I got a lot of shit to buy. So I hope I don’t give you a hard time, fuck I’m tired I just want to go home now.” and than he would giggle. I did NOT offer the redcard because I wanted to get the hang of the buttons and the employee with me was all like “That’s ok, it’s good to try and get that first and the redcard stuff will come later to you. No worries!” I felt like giving her a hug but I didn’t, lol but it might of looked like sexual harassment.
Likes(1)Dislikes(2) Awhile back I was called off to the side to discuss the responsibilities of the Cart Attendant job. I know the responsibilites just fine because I’ve been doing the job for years. The GSA decided to give me a talking to because the spill stations weren’t being checked enough. I responded with something along the lines of, “all you have to do is ask.” For that I got this response, “duties that the Cart Attendants are responsibile aren’t getting done.” As if I’m responsible for five other guys when I’m not even at work.
Likes(5)Dislikes(1) Damn it, they’re playing dumb with my availability again, trying to make me come in during times that I can’t. I put in my fall semester availability on Saturday, even after I had a talk with my ETL about trying to have my work hours coincide with my schedule as well as my career pursuits. I’m pretty sure he just spaced on the whole thing and never got around to accepting it in the system. That allowed my team leader to see it first, and she flat out denied it and made me submit a new one today. The only problem is, it won’t be applied until the week after I need it to start. I brought this up to my ETL, but you know how that goes. Now I’m going to have to fight HR for 2 weeks, trying to get them to schedule me for times that I can actually work. I’ll be calling out and getting people to cover my shifts. My attendance sucks and it’s a wonder I still have a job. I guess it’s because when I’m there, you can actually tell. I really don’t care about attendance, and as you know, I really don’t care for this job. This piece of shit is all I have to fund my education.
I swear when I ask an ETL for help, I feel like Grandpa Joe when Willy Wonka yelled at him. “YOU GET NOTHING!! YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR!!”

Dont trust anyone higher than you, don’t trust any member of management who says they will help, shit might as well hang yourself. These ETL’s are so so fake and you can see right through them. ALL OF THEM except for one. The only one that I personally think is real is the hard lines Etl. I’m not gonna mention her name but we all know who she is.
Do I trust her? Yes. Would I confide in her to tell her what and how I feel? Maybe.
