What many team-members do not realize, or do not want to realize, is that high-paying positions are given to the privileged. Everyday, college grads enter the company out of nowhere, being placed in high-paying positions, while experienced team members are ignored. What ever happened to work your way up? High-paying (salary) positions are meant for the privileged. The poor-working-class team members are only given more hours, as a compliment. A real compliment would be professional development. However, one must fit the criteria first. The criteria, imo, is being a white male, a hot white female, or minority woman. Of course, their are exceptions. Working at target has taught me that hard work is irrelevant to becoming an exec. Hard workers are only rewarded with more hard work. There is a great social injustice committed by Target Corporation, the inequality between the privileged and poor-working-class. Various movements are in progress (McDonald’s workers fight for living wage, $15 per hr., Occupy Wall St., Labor, counter-culture, Anonymous, etc., Occupy Target should exist, too. It’s important to realize there are more of us then there are of them.

(6) I can’t force someone to apply for the REDcard if they say no. I’ve been called to have a meeting with my manager before about my low selling rates and today my manager said that if my selling rate is low my the next quarter, I’ll be having a meeting with a GSTL and it’ll be “ugly”. The store company emphasizes the sell rates of the cards over the performance of its employees. I’m kind, joking, and polite toward my customers and will always help them in any way I can. I’m also one of the fastest cashiers, so my line is hardly ever long for a long time, plus I keep my lane clean and orderly and I usually come to work when I’m called in on my day offs. When I have nothing to do, I ask my Team Leader if there is anything extra I can do, so it’s not like I’m slacking around. I’ve asked my coworkers for advice on how to ask customers about the REDcard and have used their methods, even in in combos, but I still haven’t sold a card.
I was thinking of transferring to another store of the same company in another city because the employees never seem to ask every customer. In fact, I’ve never noticed them ask anyone! Then, again, I’ve heard that in order to transfer, one of the requirements is to have a good selling score, which I obviously do not have. I might as well quit.
Well, I’m off to cry. I just feel too down.
Likes(35)Dislikes(7) There are two things I wish to vent about today. First things first, the shocker. I was up in the breakroom when I heard that nearly every LOD was leaving to celebrate a wedding. I have almost no idea who got married, although I have some, but nothing definite. I sat there thinking to myself “These LOD’s get to leave for who knows how long to celebrate a wedding?” As far as I’m concerned that’s abandoning your post. They even called in a guy from another store to fill in. This other guy liked telling me how to do my job. He can be my guest if he wants to take a stab at cleaning up unpotty trained children. The LOD’s came back when I was about done with my shift and started kind of working, as if nothing ever happend.
Likes(7)Dislikes(0) I’ve always been a people person, don’t get me wrong on this one. But after working a mere 4 weeks at target, I look at every customer with disgrace and disgust, but rightly so. You occasionally have customers who come through your line who are decent and are willing to engage in conversation, but all the rest look down upon you because you’re a cashier or don’t even look your way to begin with. I’m an 18 year old soon to be college student, what makes you that much better than me? I’m not the one who goes to target and buys $30 worth of groceries and uses food stamps and coupons and throws a massive fit if even one coupon doesn’t go through because THEY read the fine print wrong. But that’s only the beginning of my rant on why I can’t stand target. Don’t even get me started on the gstl’s or whafever the fuck they call them
i’m an easy goin’ guy, but these 4 weeks at target have pushed me to the point where I can’t enter a 2-week notice because I can’t even stand to be there for another day, so I’m just not gonna show up tomorrow. I’m happy to say, fuck you horseheads target

It’s one thing if you’re at a register, the Electronics boat, the Deli/Bakery counter in a Super Target, or you’re assisting a guest—it’s another when Corporate apparently tells the ETL’s that team members have to take an hour out of their shift to walk their area and educate guests about Cartwheel. Because guests of course want to be harassed as they shop and a “Can I Help You Find Something?” isn’t enough these days. Just like the push on Red Cards prompted guests having to be approached at random and educated about the 5% savings, free shipping, extra 30 days on returns while they were on the salesfloor and it clearly couldn’t wait until they reached the front lanes.

I did not give notice, but called on my day off to say I would not be coming back. I know I left in less than desirable circumstances, but I should still get paid for the work I did. My last day was almost a month ago, and I have not gotten any checks, I should have gotten two in my time there. I have spoken to HR who says they were mailed a week ago, the store is 3 miles down the road, and even if it was coming from corporate, it still wouldn’t take a week. Anyone had this issue?
Likes(7)Dislikes(5) I’ve worked in a Target in Atlanta Ga for five months and before I’ve worked a whole month there, I’ve hated it. I am a cashier and constantly have to move my guests to one register to another because either the magswipe readers, the pinpads, or the computer monitors do not work. Sometimes the monitors’ screen freezes or the computer reboots in the middle of a transaction!

I emailed through the contact us email on target.com and messaged that I am truly developing sickness and depression from the team leads at my store pushing me so hard to get red cards and asking guests for them. I said I have a social anxiety to peoples reactions of no and to yelling of any kind. I clearly stated that I’ve spoken to my store manager about the red cards but that I was scared to admit my personal feelings of depression and anxiety to her, so that is why I contacted target headquarters through there contact us email on there website.
Likes(6)Dislikes(3) I worked for Target for 7 years. I worked 2 years and had to move due to my husbands orders. For some reason my transfer was missed up and the only job open was flow team. The hours and job were not what I was doing at my other store. So I decide to stay home. I come back home a year later. I was hired and told I would have to start off with a beginners pay. I lost 2 dollars an hour. I was newly single and had a toddler to support, so I took it and kept my mouth shut. I learned my new job quickly and soon had the top score in the district.
Likes(6)Dislikes(3) Do you want to know something that sickens me as an employee of target…GUESTS. Yes, I know with out them there would be no store, but many of them are selfish demanding jerks…I have been a cashier there for about 14 months and these are some of the things that piss me off.
Lets say I am ringing out someone and am trying to put things in the bags..the guest holds up a big bag of paper towels and says can you scan this so I can put it on the bottom of the cart. They never say let me know when you are ready and I will hand you this to scan.. So I have to put everything down to reach for the gun to scan it in order to make them happy. And I do it with a smile on my face while thinking – did you not notice my hands were full?
