    Slaving away in ohio

I;m 21 years old and I’ve worked at a local target in Ohio for about a year and a half now. I’m usually in softlines, but I know hardlines just as well. It started out great, but FORGET THAT!! I don’t even know where to begin!! Not only do I have stories, my boyfriend who has worked there for almost 6 years  has told me stories of food ave and starbucks workers being forced to work sick, even said one girl was forced to come in to work when she had strep throat!!!! This store also does not take doctors notes!! WTFFFF who doesn’t take doctors notes?!?!?! IF YOU’RE SO F*CKING SICK YOU GET A DOCTORS NOTE YOU CANT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!STarbucks and food ave is also CONSTANTLY getting cheated on their breaks. My boyfriend will work 1pm-930pm in food ave, go on his first break at around 4 and then his lunch about 5:30-6ish, and NEVER get his last 15!!!!!!!! But of course, the GSTLs get all their breaks!!! Also, our HR is a total f*cking bitch!!! she acts all nice to your face, but will turn on you in the blink of an eye!! shes so untrustworth and crazy that EVERYONE gave her bad reviews in the stupid surveys they made us take. Our actual store manager and 1 or two lods are the only nice ones there. One of the managers is such an ass, he “documented that we talked” when I forgot to turn my walkie back on after using the bathroom!!!

    pure unhappiness.

    i don’t even know where to begin…

i worked as a cashier at super target in kansas city for almost 2 years. everything was great there…rude customers everyday, but other than that i loved my store. THEN i transferred to a target in georgia. and let me tell ya, it’s fucking hell. i came into the store, on my first day of work, and no one was expecting me. when i finally met up with an LOD, they didn’t tell me anything about the store’s routine, rules, nothin. they just threw me on a checklane, and i didn’t even get to meet my gstl’s or anything.

this store is so fucking unorganized. our breaks are never on time. today, i worked 8am-3pm. well, as most of you know, you MUST take a lunch, before you hit the 6 hour mark. well, they forgot about my lunch. i didn’t get lunch until 1:45. i had to remind them, cuz i didn’t wanna get in trouble, for working 6 hours, and not clocking out.

    WTF! I dont get it!

Why the hell do the LODs walk around deliberately messing up my zone? I’m on the sales floor working hard to clean up after the guests and zone the tables and racks properly by size and color. Yet the LODs walk around and mix up the sizes and colors on purpose. They also throw random items around the departments. At first I thought it was the guest but at one point there were no guests in my area at all yet when I turned away and came back everything was flipped around.

What is the purpose of this practice? Don’t they want the store to be neat and properly zoned? Why sabotage your employees? Don’t they wanted workers who actually work and care about the quality of their work? Would they rather me half-ass my work and leave the place looking a Fing mess? WTF!!! You pay us peanuts and we try to do a good job in spite of it; yet you walk around making things harder. It’s a mean and evil practice! Fing idiots!

    blistering inhumanity & arrogance

So, I worked for another “big box” retail operation for 4 years, and I can tell that Target and the other big box are the two most inhumane, despicable organizations on earth. My fiancé was hired through one of Target’s shell employment agencies 9 months ago to come in and manage a wreck of a department that was wasting tons of money on stupid mistakes and gross errors. With her stellar personality and and incredible tool kit, she succeeded in bringing about some order and good process to a clusterf*ck situation, and started getting huge projects done beautifully, with little or no error. The proof in the pudding were the several  Target vendors who courteously thanked her for her dedication to normalcy and process. After nine months of blood, sweat & near tears, she was stricken with a disease she had carried since childhood, requiring life-saving surgery, almost a month in the hospital and several months of restricted activity to ensure an effective healing process. Today, she was ignobly notified by the shell employment agency that her personal belongings had been boxed up and were to be delivered to the shell employment agency where  she would need to pick them up.

    The principal list of complaints:

    1. Target has blatantly refused to accept any responsibility for her short or long term disability, reminding her that the contract she was forced to sign with the shell employment agency denied her of any and all benefits.

    2. Target is just another soulless, piece of shit corporation, that believes that it can arrogantly and indiscriminately f*ck contractors over with no fear of reprisal or damaging pr. I surly hate to disappoint. Hoping the State’s Atty General is not being paid off by Target, you know, huge PAC donations to keep the lid off of the kettle.

Even contractors are people, you know.

I don’t deserve it!?! Are you kidding me!!

So I’ve been working at target for over 2years now as a cashier, and we are required to get REDcards right? Ok fine whatever I’ll ask EVERY SINGLE guest and get the nasty responses… Just recently I have had the highest conversion rate because I get a lot of REDcards. So one day my STL came up to me and asked why I became a cashier. So I told him that I wanted to work in guest service and he was like no way! And I quote: “you don’t deserve to work there because you don’t get enough REDcards.” after I told him about getting 5 in like 4 hours… He simply laughed and said “Guess how many I got in 6 hours?… 2!” he only got 2 freakin cards! Before I could say anything he walked away… It’s like anytime something isn’t going their way they run away or write you up! Target management is the worst I have ever seen because they are cowardly and rude! Once I quit I will never pursue a job with them again!

    QUITTING!!!!

I’ve been working here only 8 months in the Food Service area. I was in college, and I had to remind them of my strict availability several times. I was constantly being scheduled and called during class times, and yes, my classes are more important than Target.  It was three entire months before I had worked with the Food Service manager, I only took computer training and other Team Members, who were the same status as me, only working a month longer, “trained” me.  Repeatedly, I was told, “You are doing that wrong.” Well, when I haven’t been trained, do not throw me into the job & complain about it! Now, I am one of the best employees there. Everyone in the store says I am their favorite Food Service Team Member! They say I am bubbly and nice, no matter what. Well, this is customer service and employees are supposed to be nice, duh.  Most of the people I work with is lazy and rude! My “manager” is a year older than me, never went to college, and just wants everyone to be her friend. If she doesn’t like you, she will write you up, but mostly because she likes to hang out in the office and doesn’t like being in the Food area. She doesn’t contribute anything.

Moreover, our dishwasher is broken. Every dish needs to be washed by hand. Enough said.

Pharmacy people get on my nerves. They(who are our co-workers) treat us worse than any guest! Show some respect. I am going to school, this is NOT my lifetime job!

I have several guests that come in and ask about my life & how I’m doing in school. These people brighten up my days. I love my regulars!

Lastly, if we don’t make “sales,” then our hours our cut, leaving us by ourselves a lot. And with all the pizza topping, panning, prepping, (washing dishes when dishwasher is broken), there leaves no time to try to sell more stuff, so we sell less than the last time. Organization and common sense, Target! Seriously.

Putting in two weeks notice tomorrow. I don’t deserve being treated like scum, plus I got hired somewhere else.. not in retail or making food! 🙂

    suck my A S S !!

I really wish I could’ve worked with some of the people from this site because all of my ex-coworkers are pieces of shit, fuck, cock and ass.

Normally you’d expect assholeness from the (mis)management types but everyone at my store, #233 in Possum Ridge, Arkansas, is fuckin’ mean and worthless. HERE WE GO:

To begin, I’m 6’9″, 400 lbs. Being large is hard sometimes. Our store, located in the South, is constantly hot because they RE-FUCKIN-FUSE to turn the god damn A/C on. When I’m out there moving, stocking shit, makin’ bacon, I generate a lot of fuckin’ heat and sweat. I got in trouble one day because they said I was out of uniform. Okay, HELLO, my pants were khaki when I got there, now they’re dark brown because they’re SOAKED in my own body fluids. I tried to explain the situation but my TL told me that’s ridiculous and to stop, and I quote, “…stinkin’ up on the joint” CAN THEY EVEN SAY THAT?! I work hard for my $8.50/hr and I’m nice as shit to customers, even the quadriplegic girl that yells because she can’t move or do things like you and me.

Once they started on my sweating, naturally the complaints came in about my odor. I try, REALLY HARD, not to smell like unions and ass but that store IS SO GODDAMN HOT AND I’M A FUCKIN BIG GUY! I even bought some deodorant on my break and rubbed myself down in the back near the pallet storage. One of my co-workers saw me and took a picture

  • I’ve been working with Target for almost 2 years now and have been working in retail for 12 years. My last two jobs i was promoted to an assistant manager within 6 months. ( Quiznos Sub where i had customers personally ask for me because of the way i made subs and a local Animal Rescue were i helped train, rehab, adopt and bottle fed cats and dogs)  I have worked my butt off for the first year in a half because i always put effort into my jobs and this was just another job.  There was days that were stressful and i always called my TL to have an ear full to make me feel better, and she was great about it, but she is the only one that listens. No other TL, ETL, LOD, HR or the STL give a damn. They told me that I come off as unapproachable, untrustworthy, I lack leadership skills, and I don’t know what the word “responsibility” means.  I was recently pulled into the office for writing a great team card that wasn’t “brand worthy” because the word Anti- was used. I finally had enough and practically called my STL a communist. You can’t say anything bad about Target while you’re working or you’ll get pulled aside from multiple “Higher ups” to have a talking to. On top of all this, I’ve been having troubles with my back. Before i started this job i had a standard pillow and mattress. Now i have a medical bed, pillow, body pillow and i have to wear a brace when i do any form of physical activity.  Yet, Target still believes that i can pick up a 4 man pool even after multiple calls for help. I’ve had to call off because of falling asleep on the couch for a couple of hours or if i ever sleep over at a friends/ parents place. I’ve been seeing a chiropractor now and he believes my back is getting worse. I can’t quit because i plan on having a kid and i want to use the maternity leave before quitting and they deny me to move to a different position because of the mentioned problems. Don’t get me started on hours either. Some days i open, some days i close, I fluctuate between 10 and 20 hours when I want 30-40. And when i change my availability to accommodate the 10-20 hours they give me.. they deny that too. I’m too a point that i just don’t care. I dont care if im late, do any work, help a guest.. nothing. I plan on calling Corp soon and get my ass chewed out for calling them… but i record all of my “coaching” and they know it 🙂

    Be forwarned…

Be forwarned if you fall in Target, even when there is a puddle of water on the floor inside of the store as water was flowing under the bathroom door into the aisle. I took a fall and now have back problems that have required morphine and methadone. Target holds themselves to zero liability. This happened to me on June 25, 2010 and they have put my claim off until yesterday May 29, 2012 and then they told me I only have 25 days to try for compensation before they statue of limitations is up. Target and CMS (who manages their claims) should be ashamed of themselves. I was also told word for word that “I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE CAREFUL” this from their claims service, CMS.
