    “Tough Times” for Target?

I was doing some reading online earlier today when I came across an article (which I will link below) about the newest update on the breach. For those out of the loop, the names, (email) addresses, phone numbers (and possibly SSNs) of 70 million additional customers were included in the stolen data. That brings the total up to 110 million, roughly 35% of the US population (or 317,353,904 according to http://www.census.gov/popclock/).

Leon Nicholas, an analyst for Kantar Retail in Boston, said that Target may need to “re-orient” management to “own the narrative again,” that “they can do it. But these are tough times for Target.”

So apparently I didn’t “fit” the mold?

I was hired to work at a Target Starbucks in Canada in November 2013…..I was excited! I thought that Target treated their employees with respect and dignity….or at least that was what I was told in the interview.

I worked my butt off….literally….was always on time……never disrespected anyone….always stayed late when help was needed and never complained about my job to anyone.  But I was the only 30 something year old with 2 kids.  EVERYONE else EXCEPT the team lead (she was also 30 something) was in their early 20’s….worried about school projects and partying,

I worked and didn’t like standing around and talking about what happened that weekend….or who was sleeping with who and who was cheating on who with who…..ect ect.

  • Recently, Target experienced a major problem with their gift cards. When a guest was paying for a gift card, many, many cashiers were scanning the QR code instead of the barcode. The result was a lot of gift cards that actually had no money on them, but the guest had been charged for it.

    Secrets To Target

Target; love it, hate it, burn it down, or just screw them over the way they’ve screwed over millions before you.

Behold, the way to get cheap shit from Target…

First, go online and shop on Target’s website. Whatever you want. Just buy the shit out of it. Make sure it’s only available online, though.

Then return it at the store once you get it delivered.

They’ll mark the price down 90% as an “Online Only” product, just to get it the hell out of the store since they have nowhere to put it on Planograms.

Then find it on the appropriate department’s clearance endcap and re-buy that shit.

    Fuck yeah.

  • I am typing in Bold font because I’m a pain in the ass and I don’t care. I worked at Target twice: once in 2003, and again from 2007-2012. During that time, I saw many seasonal workers come and go. Before, if you were a seasonal worker that they didn’t want to hang on to past the Christmas season, you would find out the hard way: by showing up to work and realizing that you had been taken off the schedule, or not scheduled on the new one that comes out each week. No one would explain anything to you; as to why they had chosen to let you go, etc. You were just given the boot.

  • Ok I’ve worked at Target for about a month now. I was hired as hardlines and backup cashier. Everytime I leave this place I feel like I did a bad job and while I’m there I just feel like the shittiest employee ever. But I know that I’m trying the best I can!

Every LOD has basically made me feel like I can’t zone fast enough. But I’m just trying to make it look like the brick wall they’re always talking about. And that takes time! It probably takes me about 10 minutes to make an aisle look perfect, depending on the shape it’s in. And I don’t know what to do besides the best I can?

I’ve talked to people about how to zone the easiest. I’ve learned going from up to down and then over is more efficient and that’s cool but when you’re constantly finding garbage and strays that adds a whole new distraction because then I have to go put those away and then they’ll call me up to cashier or grab push and put the push away and it’s like, “OMG how do you expect me to get 13 aisles done in 2 hours on top of all this?”

Am I just really slow or am I overthinking it?

    I’m FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE *deep inhale* EEEEEEEEEEEEEE…

At long last, AT LONG FUCKING LAST, I am free. FREE. I gave my LOD my 2-week notice about 3 weeks ago and as of last Saturday I haven’t been back. The carnival I normally work at has been closed for the past 3 months or so (Winter brings poor revenue) but I’m returning to the carnival on the 17’th, where I’ll work 10-hour days on 3-day weekends having fun and making a livable wage. NOTHING like the shitty $8.00/hr “wage” Target has to offer. I informed my LOD that until the 17’th I was free to work and we worked out a deal: I could call in and ask if they needed an extra cashier despite not being on the schedule. So today I called and got a different LOD from the one I spoke to about the deal, he asked for my number and told me he’d call me back. SURPRISE, he hasn’t called me back. I’M SOOOO SHOCKED. So it looks like I will most likely walk into Target one last time to pick up my $56.00 dollar paycheck. Which isn’t even worth it.

    Things I notice

I have been paying attention closely and noticed  a lot of things lately.

To start with my store has an upstairs which has the offices, break rooms, and HR and in order to get up there you have to go through a secure door with a key pad on it. My store has one person who is bound to a wheel chair. I realized that he has never really been able to enjoy the things that are offered to us sometimes ( Movie day, fresh fruit day, Sonnys BBQ, Papa Johns Pizza, Stocking stuffers, etc). I definately feel bad for him because the store has not done anything to accommodate him so he can at least be apart of the team and not eat his lunches in Food Ave, or outside.

    Red Card Hell

I used to be a Target customer with the Red card – and now I am paying for it. Literally.

I signed up for the Red Card several years ago – because I liked shopping at Target. Then, I converted it to “general credit card” type (not just for Target). I paid my bill on time, never missed a payment – until… I got in an accident. I was on disability for seven months. I could not work, and I could not pay my bills. When I talked to customer service, they refused to accept payments I offered,  saying the payments have to be larger…

Long story short, now they are after me, guns – a blazing. They levied my accounts- twice. I understand that I owe money, but their credit service, like their customer service, sucks. There is no talking to them – they want what they want when they want it. Period. They do not care about their customers, past or present. All they care about is money.

I do sincerely hope Target goes out of business.
