So, first off, let me begin with a resounding FUCK TARGET.
I started back at this place several years ago. Straight out of high school, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed I accepted a job offer from Target. Little did I know I was basically signing my soul away to the devil in exchange for a measly $8.50/hr and I would be burning in the everlasting fire of the Target pits of hell. It was better than fast food, worked around my school schedule and I was making more than minimum wage. I worked in the backroom… if you’ve ever worked there you know we are the forgotten ones and basically do whatever the fuck we want without having to worry about break schedules and guests. My TL and co-workers were awesome and I loved it. For a little while. I got good reviews and decent raises compared to others and was up to a whopping $9.30 within a couple years. Woo-fucking-hoo.

(14) God bless this site. I’m sick and tired of everything. Looking for a new job, I’ve worked sales floor at Tarshit for a few years now. My story probably isn’t unknown to many of you. I thought pretty highly of the company going in, the people seemed nice, yadayadayada, and then everything went downhill quickly. At best LODs and TLs are inattentive and clueless, and at worst they get off on making your life a living hell. But in the last 6 months, things have reached a new low.
Everybody knows the LODs have their favorites, and they’re usually the ones that get promotions whether they deserve them or not. My store’s favorite is one of the most useless lumps of humanity I’ve ever met. Never does any work, rude to guests and other team leads, late all the time, disappears for long stretches of time, etc. He worked as the part-time HR clerk for a while, and he would just change his start times in the schedule so it didn’t look like he was an hour late. Still, he’s their little bitch, and when a TL spot opened up last year, they gave it to him.
Likes(28)Dislikes(5) So I’m employed at target & my work center is the service desk.Yesterday a man came in to return a tv that he claims he had just purchased the day before.As he placed the box on the counter,I went to grab the box and noticed it felt light to be containing a 55 inch television.So I proceeded to take back the tv but was curious so I opened the sealed box what I laid my eyes on was horrible.
Likes(53)Dislikes(17) So I’ve been working at Target for the past 8 months. Through this time I think I’ve been a pretty good employee, and I’m in school so I only take about 20 hours a week. Then one week recently I was given a pretty big task for my section, which was to remove all the out of season shoes, and because they just let the end of life shoes pile up over the previous three months I had to end up clearing over 700 pairs of shoes. While doing this my boss had the gall to claim I wasn’t working hard enough and threatened to cut my hours. I responded by telling him I was actually working really fast and just left it at that. Next week I find I’ve been cut to four hours, as well as the week after that. I was pretty pissed off by this so I talk to him about it and he claims he doesn’t know anything.
Likes(36)Dislikes(7) I worked at a Target for 3 years (Now I have a much better job that seems to give a damn about it’s employees). I have family and friends that work at Target as well. So this past winter, with all these damn snowstorms and one STATE OF EMERGENCY, you’d think that this Eastern Coast Target would close and protect their Team Members and Guests, right?
Wrong! This Target store, store T2072, decided not to close during a state of emergency. Hell, they didn’t even have a delay that day. The one delay they did have was during a light dusting. So several Team Members had to drive, be driven, or get looked at in shame when they call off because it’s DANGEROUS outside and the brand new STL decided it was safe for everyone to come in.
I called anonymously to Target Corporate to complain about it, but nothing got done.
Likes(31)Dislikes(4) My store is going ape sh*t over guest surveys. They’re almost as sought after as red cards. GSTLs keep track of the number of Red Cards and surveys we get because we have the guests come up to the guest service counter and fill them out on an iPad Mini.
Being curious, I looked up the “Best Practices” for guest surveys, and sure enough it specifically says not to do that. The LODs and STL are even aware, but they choose to ignore it any ways. Pisses me off. I had printed out and highlighted the portion of that best practice where it says not to do that and had it sitting on my desk in the AP office, and when I came in the next day, it was folded and in the garbage.
Screw Target right in the bum.

I was just talking with a coworker tonight about the bs we have to put up with from the LODs. Their hypocrisy and entitlement they feel because of their titles is complete garbage. They’ll tell sales floor team members not to do something but turn around and do it themselves.

We are Target Mobile. We are just as sick of Target’s bullshit as our friends in red. And the hatred from within Target is even worse.
Likes(33)Dislikes(6) I had friends that went straight into a ETL position or some leadership role from College with little to no experience, but I wanted to put in some work at the bottom to earn my keep learn about Target. I suggest noone ever come into Target starting at the Bottom better to come in on top. I have my Bachelors and I have experience in other roles, but I needed a job fast and wanted to get in their system because THEY told me they love to promote from within oh god that was a lie.

I applied to a bunch of different places and Target ended up contacting me for an interview. The world’s most evil LOD loved me during the interview, as such I was hired directly to guest services, which surprised me as I thought I would be stuck cashiering. For the first day of training, it was wonderful. Then it all turned to shit.
