Target Sucks - We Hate Target and We Know We're Not Alone.

Category / Employee Experience

  • So I just got hired not too long ago and worked for about 3-4 weeks. It was alright, customer service not my favorite thing but I had a good team and nice TLs, except that they were unable to train me properly as a cashier so I struggled to learn some things. Had to put in my 2 weeks though because of transportation reasons.

    My Target Experience(s) T1769/T1372

Where do I begin? about summer 2014 I got my first interview for a real job; target. I was excited I thought hey mature professionals real schedules and hours blah blah blah. wrong. just. fucking wrong.

first off, I get this interview and they decide to offer me a job on the spot, this is an offer for 4:00 am shift flow team, well I was only 17 years old at this time, under the legal curfew age around here. so right off the bat they offer me a job that I can’t legally work, so nagurally they decide to let me work this position regardless but instead of 4:00 am, 6:00 am.

    Terrible training program.

I applied to target about a month ago, and was hired two weeks ago. Last week was my first two days being trained as a Flow Team Member. I was super excited as I have worked in retail before, and couldn’t wait to be on the other side of the walls. Plus, I actually like to organize things and make them look better.

  • Dear people who come to stores at closing time,

DO NOT COME TO THE STORE AT CLOSING TIME (also goes for restaurants)

So here’s the story. It was my first night ever closing fucking tarshit and its 9:49pm and you know we do that lil “please come to the front we’re about to close” thing.

  • i started at Target when my son was 3 months old. I was still breastfeeding him, so I would need a private place to pump on my breaks. My ETL was a very supportive man, with a child himself, and let me use his office.

  • Because not many of us “volunteer” to recognize other people. One of the piece of shit TL has decided to call on people to give recognition. I was called on recently, tried to recognize someone who wasn’t here and was poked fun at for it.

    Poor Management and Talent

So due to the canada failure and this Transgender policy its obvious target is cutting everything to get some money back. Being a TL I usually write schedules for my team, putting this years hours per week compared to last year its pretty obvious whats going on.

    Found A Customers Check

About a week or so ago I was bowling out the boxes when I saw an envelope on the ground. I thought it was more garbage people decided to just leave on the ground so I picked it up and looked into it (since it was in the detergent aisle I was afraid of stepping on it and ending up flying through the air with some stupidly heavy detergent boxes or something, all I need is a broken rib or back) and I realized it was a check for bonton, had no idea they still existed, and what looked like a bill for the same place probably. I think it was some small denomination around $50 bucks. I looked at it a couple times thinking I was reading it wrong because I was honestly shocked at how reckless someone could be by just losing their personal financial data on the floor of a retail store.

  • I started working at Target in September as a cashier and it seemed great at first. Had great coworkers and management who knew and understood that this was a weekend job while I was at college. About 2 months I started noticing signs of stress and fatigue. That I no longer enjoyed coming in and that mangers would stress about the littlest of things. That some things that weren’t cleaned weren’t perfect and that we weren’t selling enough red cards. I thought whatever because I was consistent on sales, speed and guest experience surveys. Eventually it became all about redcards. That the guest nor their experience rarely mattered as long as there was  red card sell.
