So I’ve worked at Target on overnight flow for less than a month. It’s basically my first job (aside from a brief training phase at Jimmy John’s which ended in termination because the store’s labor count was too high). Like most of the stories, I thought the job would be good esp for a first time employee and the pay’s really gorgeous. On paper, anyway.

IS YOUR STORE AFFECTED?? NO ONE INCLUDING THE STL AND ETL’S ARE HAPPY ABOUT THE NEW STORE HOURS WHICH TAKES EFFECT NEXT MONTH. DOES TARGET THINK THAT THEY WILL SOMEHOW COMPENSATE FOR OR CAPTURE SOME OF THE LOSS FOR ALL THE MONEY THEY HAVE LOST AND WILL CONTINUE LOOSING BECAUSE OF THE BREACH, THEIR FAILED AND ABRUPT VENTURE INTO CANADA WHICH WILL NEVER BOUNCE BACK, THOUSANDS OF UNPAID DOLLARS WORTH OF MERCHANDISE EASILY WALKING OUT THEIR STORES DAILY DUE TO THEFT AND LACK OF SECURITY PERSONNEL IN STORES BY DOING THIS?. THIS COMPANY MAKES IT SO EASY FOR PEOPLE TO STEAL WHILE SOME OF US ARE US HONESTLY WORKING OUR ASSES OFF WHEN WE KNOW THAT TARGET CAN PAY US MUCH BETTER.

…money. What we need to do as employees is to hit Target where it hurts. Specifically, we need to be able to nail them on labor law violations and then either turn them in to the proper authorities, or better yet find a lawyer and sue them if you have standing. This is going to require everyone to document everything that happens DAILY. Write down everything that seems relevant; dates, times and places.
We need to read up on the labor laws, and know our rights. There are Federal and State laws designed to protect us as employees. A little solidarity between employees wouldn’t hurt either. From what I’ve seen, every TL and ETL (including HR) are on the same page with each other. We need to be the same way.
Venting is fine, but really what ultimately needs to happen is unionization, or at least some ground needs to be given to the employees of Target in the form of better benefits, working conditions and wages.
It’s pretty depressing right now as a poverty-level wage slave. Everyone at my store seems to be throwing each other under the bus. There are many who are straight up rats. They run to management if they see or hear something that is against corporate policy, or if it’s something they think will score them favors from management. Little do they know they’re being used like a rag.
That’s my 2 cents, what do you guys think?

Hired as a seasonal employee I took the role of a Human Resource Team Member. Being told how good I’ve been doing – doing the stupid 3-11 shifts (including new years, christmas eve, and thanksgiving) because my Team Leader said we all have to start somewhere. It was so horrible! Not only do you have to do your own specific job in human resources for some idiotic reason we also have to give over 100 team members their equipment, sign it out for them, go after them for punch corrections, post schedules while everyone’s on you telling you to hurry, having the phone ring ring ring and having to buzz people in the god damn man trap, psssttt that was a piece of cake for just $8.75/hr.

We actually went outside in the heat because it felt better. Guests had the fucking nerve to ask if the AC was broke!! No you dumb bitch, we like it this way!!! The manager told us that the AC was not broke. They controlled it from corporate in Minnesota!! Get the fuck out of here with your lying ass bullshit.

It was my first day working fitting room, I dreaded this day because I knew I would have to do the announcements. I hate public speaking, even though no one would be watching, everyone is fucking listening! In the Fitting Room Bible, they give you what you have to say when the time gets closer to 11.

Asshole: “Abra-fuckin-cadabra, it’s not here!”
Asshole: “Golly, we just don’t understand where it is, hmmmm…should be here…”
Asshole: “Tell you what, go stand over there and I’ll bring it to ya. Gimme a sec…”

I work at Target Canada. I was GSA today, and a “Guest” (are we going to call them all lovers eventually?) was talking to me like I was a piece of dirt for informing him that we don’t subscribe to the Canadian scanning code of conduct, which would make any item scanned wrong under 10 dollars free. He seemed to think it was some sort of hard law (he used the word charter…I don’t think you know what that word means), when it’s a voluntary policy. Now he was a dickbutt asswipe, so I really didn’t care about that, but once he was gone I started thinking he did have a point.
