Target Sucks - We Hate Target and We Know We're Not Alone.

Category / Employee Experience

  • So hello there fellow target haters! I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I have dealt with the biggest load of fuckery this past week. As anyone who has ever gotten the pleasure to have me as a cashier or a friend or just have met me or talked to me in general knows, I am a very friendly person and I enjoy engaging in conversation. So of course, I am going to talk to my guests and make sure that they enjoy their experience and come back. Well apparently, that’s frowned upon at Target! Yes, that’s right, I got told by my trollface manager that I shouldn’t talk to my guests because it will lower my score! As if I give a fuck about my score being lowered. To me, talking to the guest and making sure that they have a nice experience and like me and make sure they come back is more important, BUT NOT TO TARGET! OH NO, THEY WANT YOU IN AND THEN OUT RIGHT AWAY. This actually made me furious so of course, i did the mature thing, I TALK TO MY GUESTS MORE!

    I need a new job

This is my first post. I’ve read a ton of these, but I never thought I’d ever post one.

Anyway, I finally lost my shit earlier this week. I work in the backroom, and not to be arrogant, but I’m easily the top guy back there. I was getting pulled in all different directions by my TL and the LOD between helping finish the CAFs because my teammates are some slow pieces of shit, and doing the merchandise sweep from hell by myself. It took my like 6 hours to pull 11 pallets worth of stuff. The whole time, my TL was checking up on me, and when the LOD asked me to help finish CAF, I didn’t really have a choice because she’s an ETL. Of course, my TL gave me shit about it for at least the next couple of hours because she didn’t see why I had to be on the CAF. We kinda got into a bit, but I didn’t say anything outrageous. I’m a nice guy, mostly mild-mannered, and I do everything they ask, but that was just ridiculous. Then to top it all off, after that was done, the 2 guys that were supposed to do the CAF by themselves got off, and me and the TL were the only ones left. Who the hell made that schedule?!! Of course, the TL is worthless, and she went to lunch. I did the next hour of CAFs, which came out to 1:19, by myself. Keep in mind that I’m still not done with the damn sweep! I finished that CAF, finished pulling the sweep, wrapped the pallets, and put them in the storage area. I was at work an extra 2 hours, and the $20.32 just wasn’t worth it. Some point during all of this shit, when I was by myself, I got pissed and slammed my PDA on the ground. It sparked, and I could smell smoke or something. I picked it up, pushed buttons, and it was dead. I didn’t care. I just signed it in, and got a new one. I think eventually, they’re gona know it was me, and I’m pretty sure that’s a fireable offense. I wonder how much time I have until I’m terminated. I need a new job ASAP so I can quit and still be able to say that I’ve never been fired. However, I’ve wanted out for about 2 years, so maybe getting fired wouldn’t be so bad…

  • Even the cart attendant has done it, is that crazy or what? They “MAKING” people who aren’t paid to be gsa’s or gstl’s to hold keys and handout money when the gsa’s and gstl’s are at break or lunch or if there was a call out by one of them. They use and abuse anyone as much as possible. Why don’t they get a TL to watch the front or an Etl since they’re always just walking around pretending to be busy but yet they walk joined at the hips like Siamese twins.

Then you have electronics also pulling people who don’t know jack shit about accessories or attachments to go give them their break or lunch! Crazy crazy crazy. People who aren’t “trained” in certain departments get put to work there not having a clue or idea of the rules abs in food avenues case cleanliness!

I guess they figure that team members are to scared to say NO! That’s why they get taken advantage of

  • 97% of all new etl’s don’t have at least one day in retail experience and they get hired by this company. Sure we’ll train you, just walk around and sit in the tsc and pretend to be busy on the computer. The best one yet is when the operations executive team leader is “training” the intern and as soon as his store team lead walks up to them “loafing” he replies: I was showing her what all we do at guest service with returns as he’s asked by his superior “what are you doing?”. Epic!!

So basically if you have a degree in eating boogers just apply at your nearest target and you too can hold a key to the store and walk around and pretend to be a top performer when in reality you suck donkey dick.

But anyway just roll with the punches wear ALOT of chap stick in case you get chapped lips from kissing ass to be in the “cool” circle. oh and wipe the tip of your nose once in a while from being a brown-noser too. Ya’ll should be ashamed and embarrassed.

Target by Chollas Park, San Diego Ca

I’m just glad I’m away from all the bullshit (kind of) since I work towards the bank of the store. Back to school is here again and lately I have seen ETL’s working it back there. Team work to the fullest, if only that could be an everyday thing and not just something that’s temporary due to this website. I guess they’re “trying”.

My department (somewhere in the sales floor) is on the down low lol, hush hush hush! I just play it off and pretend I’m part of the ass kissing team to all the Lod’s haha shit is CRAY! I hear them talk about who’s posting this on the ihatetarget.net site and I nearly bust out laughing. Everyone a d I mean everyone is reading this site everyday. It’s like the newest fad in town.

Even the flow team is on cue with this site, awesome team work great way to keep up to date on the latest. It’s like having a true life stories version of the RED magazine online. I want to recognize everyone who’s gotten fired, why? Cause you’re not dealing with the bullshit!

I recently got a new tattoo and there was actually a target symbol with a big bullet going through it and I though that was epic. I guess someone else feels just the same as we do about target.

  • so after stumbling upon this website and reading what you feel and go figure I see a lot of underlined themes. shitty pay, incompetent management that don’t belong in retail, shitty co workers & favoritism, piss poor policies, there is so many things wrong with the company yes but at your former store level there I feel there is one big issue…

unfortunately retail has been my life. from first job on Its just what I’ve done.

Your job is based on the red card 1846

We shouldn’t get treated better if we get a red card on our shifts. Your job is balanced on that and I don’t think that’s fair. You can be a top performer but if you don’t get red cards you’re in the bucket with the rest of the team members.

WE SHOULD BOYCOTT THE RED CARD. I wish team members would unite and find a good lawyer and make a huge lawsuit against the harassment we get over the red card and I can bet that we would have the guests support on this because they hate it just as much. They too feel harassed. HELP US TO STOP THE HARASSMENT PLEASE!

    The ETL Process

This is just a quandary I have come to think about in terms of promotions within Target.

It’s bullshit that anyone with a degree and zero management experience (sometimes no retail experience) can become an ETL and some one who gets hired as a regular team member with A degree can take as long as four years to get promoted to ETL

Target will fuck you in a heartbeat

One year ago today, I started my job as a TPS (target protection specialist) in a mid america target store. To give a little background to those of you who don’t work at target, the tps is the little stuff bitch that does everything that the etl-ap, aps, or aptl doesn’t want to do. They are dressed in all black and usually “create a presence” at the front doors. Well, being an 18 year old fresh out of high school, I was looking for a job that paid decent and didn’t require any college, so I applied and after three interviews was hired. . . Thus, the fucking commenced.

I was hired to work at the store on the east side of the city and on day one, they advised me that I would be training at that store only and would actually be getting transfered to the store on the west side. I was happy about this because I lived on the west side, so I gladly took the transfer in stride, however they forgot to mention that I would be filling in all over town if someone was sick. So I sent all over the city filling in a litte over here and a little over there and not accomplishing a whole lot.

    T1846

Team members and Senior Team leads do one hell of a job but go without recognition! If only ETL’s could be more appreciative and show true and honest recognition maybe the store could be in better spirits.

So much chaos and unhappiness at our store, no ones happy. I know a lot of people in this store and they’re all so unhappy and miserable. I see them and it’s like they’re another person when they’re at work. Unlike them at all. Why does Target have to be so controlling and Target is NOT the best company ever!!! That shit is overrated!!!

Its a nightmare! Theres more than one Freddy Crougar in this nightmare though. People who’ve gotten fired are much more relaxed now and they all have real jobs lol. Team builds? What’s that? Vibe? What’s that? Promotions? What’s that? Good raises? What’s that? Hahaha this store is a joke!
