Target Sucks - We Hate Target and We Know We're Not Alone.

    This site keeps me sane

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted here. I’ve calmed down quite a bit (regarding Target; I have a calm disposition), and I think that I’m finally growing numb to Target’s shenanigans. It’s taken almost 5 years with 2 stints at 2 different stores, but it’s finally happening.

    I’m not totally numb though!

  • The Target is on my back…again.

I’m back working for this POS company, but at a different store about 15 minutes away from the first one. I did it out of pure desperation, but as soon as I started, I realized what a terrible mistake I had just made.

I’m in my last 7 days

Next Tuesday, I will walk out of Target for the last time. Upon arriving home, I will throw out all 4 red shirts, the sweater I never wore, my one pair of khakis, my nametag, and 4 of 5 box cutters. Oh yea and my old New Balances that I wore almost every day.

I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have a target on my back than have Target on my back. It’s time for a new stage of life.

No more CAFs, no more backstocking, no more -10 degree freezer, no more lazy teammates, no more stupid “guests,” no more vibing, no more ETLs telling me how to do a job that they’ve never done, no more ETLs talking to grown men and women like children.

I’m SO close to calling it quits!

Here’s the deal…By the grace of God, I finally have the opportunity to leave this awful company. I got a job offer from my school to be an administrative assistant in the building that houses my major. It’s M-F, no evenings, no weekends during the school year. I wouldn’t make as much (minimum wage), but it would still be enough to cover all of my expenses. The start date isn’t set in stone, but I’m pretty sure it would be in about a week.

The hours clash with Target’s (of course), so giving a 2 week notice and actually working after the notice wouldn’t allow me to take this job immediately. I’m afraid that if I don’t start right away, then I would lose my opportunity because there are people lined up for it. I’m a little stuck with regards to quitting bullseye. Can you give a week’s notice and still be ok?

If you’ve read my previous posts, you know that I hate Target with all of my heart, but I really don’t want this to end badly. The ride’s been bad enough and I’d rather not get launched through the windshield. Has anybody ever had this problem? How’d you go about handling it?

I’ve wanted out for almost 2 years and my shot is finally here!! Any help is appreciated.

    Aren’t 15 minute breaks optional?

If they are, then why was my TL giving me shit for not taking one of them on Thursday? This woman (if you want to call her that) is fucking nuts. She put in her two week notice that day (thank god), and I’m the one who’s in line to take her spot. She started lecturing me when I helped my teammates when it looked like they were behind on the CAF. What am I supposed to do? If I let them fail, we still get shit for missing batches. I’d rather not miss CAFs. As it turns out, they didn’t need my help, but I figure better safe than sorry, right? Nope. Apparently, I don’t display leadership qualities. If leadership means sitting back and while your team’s chances of failing increases, then maybe I’m not the guy for the job.

    They’re doing it again

Damn it, they’re playing dumb with my availability again, trying to make me come in during times that I can’t. I put in my fall semester availability on Saturday, even after I had a talk with my ETL about trying to have my work hours coincide with my schedule as well as my career pursuits. I’m pretty sure he just spaced on the whole thing and never got around to accepting it in the system. That allowed my team leader to see it first, and she flat out denied it and made me submit a new one today. The only problem is, it won’t be applied until the week after I need it to start. I brought this up to my ETL, but you know how that goes. Now I’m going to have to fight HR for 2 weeks, trying to get them to schedule me for times that I can actually work. I’ll be calling out and getting people to cover my shifts. My attendance sucks and it’s a wonder I still have a job. I guess it’s because when I’m there, you can actually tell. I really don’t care about attendance, and as you know, I really don’t care for this job. This piece of shit is all I have to fund my education.

I swear when I ask an ETL for help, I feel like Grandpa Joe when Willy Wonka yelled at him. “YOU GET NOTHING!! YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR!!”

    Fuckin bullseye…

This job gets in the way…

of me getting into the field I want. I’m a broadcasting major with a small background in writing. I’m a sports fan – an NFL junkie to a certain extent. I want to make a career out of covering America’s most popular sport. It’s really hard to dive into the league when you’ve got Target wanting you to work when you would otherwise be watching games, recording podcasts, writing blog entries, or whatever.

They say education is important, but they don’t mean it. There’ve been numerous occasions where those fuckers have put me on the schedule right in the middle of my classes. What part of “I’m not available” don’t they understand? They want me to concede and be one of their backroom drones and be a complacent, uninspired, unmotivated piece of nothing like all the other poor souls who’ve wasted away inside the walls of 1431. I’m not having any of that shit. The school year is just around the corner, and I’m going to have to play this stupid game all over again.

    inefficient, wasting time, complete bullshit

Ok, this is my third post in pretty short order, but it’s so necessary. I love coming on here to vent.

I work in the backroom. If I had like a Target hit list, whoever resets planograms would be number one. The ETL that gets on our case about backstocking would be second. When they reset planograms, and fill it with new stuff, guess where the old stuff goes…the backroom. Almost every time this happens, we get a flatbed with at least 10 repack boxes full of stuff. When the ETLs come upstairs on their walk (god, I hate the walk), they see that shit and lose their minds and from then on, they’re on our case about who’s working on backstock the rest of the day as if we let the backstock get out of hand. Motherfucker! stop giving us all this plano BS to add to our normal flow, and maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.

    ETL turnover

I work at Target #1431 in Falls Church, VA. I’ve been there for 3 years this August, and at this point, I’ve been here longer than every ETL. When I first started, the job was actually ok. Most of the ETLs had been with the store since it opened a decade or so ago. They knew what they were doing. You still hated them because they had that stupid arrogance about them, being ETLs and all, but they didn’t treat you like shit and we got work done. Over the past 3 years, one by one or two by two, they’ve all gone. Some of the spots have been replaced more than once. I don’t like a single one of the ETLs who are there now. The men are barely catching on to how the business works, and while the women are gorgeous, that’s about all they bring to the table. Sometimes I wonder what kind of shady things they had to do to get their job…

    I need a new job

This is my first post. I’ve read a ton of these, but I never thought I’d ever post one.

Anyway, I finally lost my shit earlier this week. I work in the backroom, and not to be arrogant, but I’m easily the top guy back there. I was getting pulled in all different directions by my TL and the LOD between helping finish the CAFs because my teammates are some slow pieces of shit, and doing the merchandise sweep from hell by myself. It took my like 6 hours to pull 11 pallets worth of stuff. The whole time, my TL was checking up on me, and when the LOD asked me to help finish CAF, I didn’t really have a choice because she’s an ETL. Of course, my TL gave me shit about it for at least the next couple of hours because she didn’t see why I had to be on the CAF. We kinda got into a bit, but I didn’t say anything outrageous. I’m a nice guy, mostly mild-mannered, and I do everything they ask, but that was just ridiculous. Then to top it all off, after that was done, the 2 guys that were supposed to do the CAF by themselves got off, and me and the TL were the only ones left. Who the hell made that schedule?!! Of course, the TL is worthless, and she went to lunch. I did the next hour of CAFs, which came out to 1:19, by myself. Keep in mind that I’m still not done with the damn sweep! I finished that CAF, finished pulling the sweep, wrapped the pallets, and put them in the storage area. I was at work an extra 2 hours, and the $20.32 just wasn’t worth it. Some point during all of this shit, when I was by myself, I got pissed and slammed my PDA on the ground. It sparked, and I could smell smoke or something. I picked it up, pushed buttons, and it was dead. I didn’t care. I just signed it in, and got a new one. I think eventually, they’re gona know it was me, and I’m pretty sure that’s a fireable offense. I wonder how much time I have until I’m terminated. I need a new job ASAP so I can quit and still be able to say that I’ve never been fired. However, I’ve wanted out for about 2 years, so maybe getting fired wouldn’t be so bad…
