I’m SO close to calling it quits!
Here’s the deal…By the grace of God, I finally have the opportunity to leave this awful company. I got a job offer from my school to be an administrative assistant in the building that houses my major. It’s M-F, no evenings, no weekends during the school year. I wouldn’t make as much (minimum wage), but it would still be enough to cover all of my expenses. The start date isn’t set in stone, but I’m pretty sure it would be in about a week.
The hours clash with Target’s (of course), so giving a 2 week notice and actually working after the notice wouldn’t allow me to take this job immediately. I’m afraid that if I don’t start right away, then I would lose my opportunity because there are people lined up for it. I’m a little stuck with regards to quitting bullseye. Can you give a week’s notice and still be ok?
If you’ve read my previous posts, you know that I hate Target with all of my heart, but I really don’t want this to end badly. The ride’s been bad enough and I’d rather not get launched through the windshield. Has anybody ever had this problem? How’d you go about handling it?
I’ve wanted out for almost 2 years and my shot is finally here!! Any help is appreciated.

I don't know what state you're in, but I'm pretty sure you're an "at-will" employee, and I'm also sure you signed a notice when you were hired saying you could be fired for any reason without notice. So why bother giving them any, especially if you hate the place so much. If you have a good job lined up, that good job should be your number one priority.

Fuck target i'd simply tell them well this my last day and go. Are you ever going to try and get rehired by the shits eye ? Better off to work Walmart or stay home and collect welfare then work target.
I don't plan on ever going to work for them again. One of my friends there who got moved up to TL said that Target doesn't give recommendations. Pretty much once you leave, you don't exist to them anymore. Anyone know if that's true? If it is, my last day might be tomorrow.
Most large companies won't do anything beyond confirming employment. Say anything good or bad about a former employee, they become liable. If they say you suck, and then you don't get the job, you can actually sue them. Pretty funny.
Target themselves really can't (for the reason TargetSucks mentioned), but anyone there who you trust to write you a recommendation could.
I wouldn't give them any more consideration than they give to you or any one else.
Not sure if they do recommendations, They legally cant say much regarding you to employers. Only thing they can say yes they worked here from these dates and if you're rehireable.
Omg! I wouldn't even think about it...just quit...this other job is a better investment..fuck target..this is your way out...plz don't waste it
