Most people saw this coming, for those that didn’t, Tarshit announced Monday that they would open their doors on Thanksgiving Day for their Black Friday sales at 6:00 PM. For those that still work at Target and have to go in at 5:30 pm or earlier on Thanksgiving day to slave away for for Tarshit, having to deal with asshole guests that day and pretty much have Thanksgiving and family time taken away from you, I will be thinking about you and so will many of us on this site. Most of us have worked a Black Friday shift so we know the pains. Good luck.

I’ve worked for target for four years now. If that’s any kind of accomplishment.
I picked up my current Team Member position over in Softlines (Women’s, Men’s, and Children’s Clothing) during the seasonal hiring and at first I was just happy to have a little extra cash coming in, my rent was paid there was gas in my car everything was good. For my first few weeks at Target I was mostly closing in softlines then I was moved to the softlines portion of the Flow Team, In the store I work at the Flow Team consists of 10 Team Members because everyone quits. Small wonder. The part that burns my bacon the most is that the Target I work at is not in any way low volume. Unfortunately the store I work at is in a small town so it was built as a low volume target, BUT our sales rival that of some of the Super Targets in our district. As the saying goes we’re too big for our britches. Our sales grossing so high means that we get high volume trucks (3400+ pieces) with a low or ultra low volume team.

This is my first job I’ve ever had, I have been a cashier for about 3 months and honestly 3 months has been long enough for me to realize that 90% of Target guests have crawled out of the ground from hell. Don’t even know why I’m still working here because I’m a full time student and they have been giving me 30+ hours even when I asked for less.
Not only are the guests bad, but a lot of my team members really dislike me for some reason. I think it’s because I’m young (I look REALLY young but I’m 20) and in college so they think I’m stuck up, but I have social anxiety. I greet the guests, smile at everyone, yet that’s not enough because I don’t hold 10 minute long conversations with the guests.

Management at this company is a fucking joke. They act all nice and then turn into assholes at the slightest thing. Do these people come off an assembly line? Are they human? Honestly, most of my leaders remind me of some fake, smiling used car salesman from Hell. Just a really shitty personality you don’t want to be around. Very two-faced.
I’m now a Hardlines employee, when I never asked to leave my previous work area. They just fucking put me here. Worst of all, I’m the one that is ALWAYS assigned to push the backroom pulls. Everyone else is pushing reshop and zonning, while I get this shitty job.

I recently started employment with Target, I just passed my 90 days. I have to say it may be the best company I have ever worked for. I am 36 and recently was laid off, and I was pleasantly surprised with my training & the attitude of my managers and co-workers. i plan on staying with Target for many more years. Their attention to customer service is admirable, other companies should pay attention, they might learn something.

It was my first day of training. I go to the operator, tell her what’s up. She tells me to go to the registers and wait for a trainer. Some other employee directed me to my trainer because I was standing around like an idiot waiting for one. Guess what? My trainer was already training someone! And she had no idea she had to train someone else!
After that’s sorted out, the trainer had me shadow her, but she wasn’t really explaining anything. She just had me watch her and hoped that I got it. So when I took over, I fumbled a bit. It was to be expected, and I was pretty nervous, but she hardly did any explaining until I made mistakes. Thanks, I guess?

so im a cart attendant at a target. what pisses me off is that i’m 4 months in, and i am the main cart attendant. im doing 30+ hours because the other guy can only work 22 hrs a week. not that i’m pissed about it, but when the GSTL hires a cart attendant, it’s expected for him to screw up once in a while. Right? WRONG DEAD WRONG! they asked me to stay until midnight to help him out, then bitched him out because he couldn’t get it done. ON THE FIRST DAY! on top of that, i call 239 (cash office) to the ETL, most would respond. 2 of the ETL’s won’t respond to me. a good 15 minutes proved that because the GSTL was busy calling for backup, (which never came) nothing. finally the GSTL calls out “LOD 239” and the LOD responds in 15 seconds. the GSTL is looking at the LOD and then at me and asked her (with a lot of balls i might add) if she heard me call out 239. “I did, but i ignored it” (apparently a lot more balls were needed to not punch her in her stupid face). The security guard told her that a prompt was made and there is a certain timeframe that needs to be maintained for security. another day, Both of the ETL’s were working the closing shift, i ask an ETL to empty the trash, because they are the only ones who can do that. “GSTL, can you see what the cart attendant wants?” “CART ATTENDANT GO TO A DIFFERENT CHANNEL.”

This website should come with a box of tissues. I’ve been scoping out this site for the past two weeks and every post sounds so miserable! I have been an Assistant Manager (not at Target) for the last 4 out of my 5 years of retail experience. So let me be the first to say, that ALMOST every post I have seen on here about the employee experience has been a self-inflicted issue. Not getting enough training? Understand managers have many hats to wear and also have a lot going on. If you need more training, you need to be firm in asking for more assistance.

I work on the flow team and don’t mind it. The hours fly by when doing this kind of work. My team members are cool and are hard workers and bust ass every truck day. But my main concern are the TL’s and management. They treat you like shit and look down on you as if you’re inferior to them. The TL’s just bark orders and watch us work while contributing very little. I feel like we should be paid at least $12.00 an hour for the amount of bullshit we go through and how demanding the job is.

I was hired as a seasonal cashier. I have lots of work experience and am a fast learner. I am a very hard worker. I am also graduating with my Bachelor’s in 3 months, but my managers at Target treat me like I’m stupid. On my first day I was put out on the floor with virtually no training. I have never been so poorly trained for a job. Every time I need help the managers act annoyed and are not friendly. Instead of explaining to me how to do it they do it for me and walk away. I am not learning this way, but have picked up many things on my own. I’m tired of pissing customers off because I have no idea what I’m doing. It makes me look so stupid, when in fact I know this job would be easy if I were taught. It is only my 4th day and I’m seriously just considering not showing up anymore.
