Target is officially opening up at 6:00 pm on Thanksgiving
Most people saw this coming, for those that didn’t, Tarshit announced Monday that they would open their doors on Thanksgiving Day for their Black Friday sales at 6:00 PM. For those that still work at Target and have to go in at 5:30 pm or earlier on Thanksgiving day to slave away for for Tarshit, having to deal with asshole guests that day and pretty much have Thanksgiving and family time taken away from you, I will be thinking about you and so will many of us on this site. Most of us have worked a Black Friday shift so we know the pains. Good luck.

Did you know they're only doing a dollar differential instead of time and a half this year. That is really fucked up and the holiday pay is deserved for working a shift like that.
It's like Target aims to be worse each year. They think of new ways to make people's lives a living hell. That's not fair to those who have to miss thanksgiving and be with their families. At my new job, it was voluntary to work a 4 hour shift on Thanksgiving and you get paid double time for Thanksgiving. I don't mind that, it's just four hours. Unlike slaving at Target for 11-12 and only making a dollar more an hour. Last year I worked 12 hours during the opening hours for Black Friday. Then I had to come in 5 hours later to work another 8 hours yes I only had 5 hours in between Black Friday shifts. In my state it's illegal to have less than 8 hours in between shifts but Tarshit thinks they are above the law.
That's how it was for me too, but they scheduled me so that I wasn't eligible for the holiday rate. I asked about pay this year to one of the SRTLs and they said it's only a dollar differential which was convenient to tell people that NOW instead of when they were asking for volunteers.
Having heard this many times before, and living in employer-unfriendly California, where are you and the appropriate reference in the law? For instance California does have a similar law but it only applies to workers in the film and television industries.
That's probably determined by the state laws. Some states will require time and a half.
Fuck corporate America. Holidays and traditions don't mean shit anymore. Nothing is sacred, only the almighty fucking dollar. Are you honestly telling me these shitstains can't wait another fucking 6 hours to get their cheap ass deals? Why even call it Black FRIDAY anymore? It doesn't make any sense to start on Thursday. Fuck anyone who shows up on Thanksgiving day for cheap shit. You're only encouraging this degradation of our society. So instead of spending time with my family, I'm going to be getting yelled at by some maggot for being out of something already? On what used to be a valued holiday? Get the fuck outta here.
hate to say it but couldn't they do it the other way around? Open at 9 am and close at 6 pm? Give people a chance to have their thanks giving dinner? And open earlier than usual say 6 am the next day? It would make them look good haha
Yep, I am working Thursday morning to unload a truck, and Thursday night. Fantastic. It's getting beyond the point of asinine; I am waiting for us to be open for Christmas. If we have to work it, then the CEO and the other executive officers should be working as well. But no, they are on the golf course. That's the part that pisses me off. This isn't isolated to Target; this is everywhere. Let's go ahead and be open for 365 days a year. Leadership by example....unless you make millions to suck corporate dick.
There's a reason why Walmart workers are being arrested right now. We need to start fighting back against these asinine corporations and convince people to stop going out on Black Friday before anything will happen.
