    About to stop going

So I’ve been at Target about a month and I’m done. I was just using it as a filler job until I found something better. I have another job lined up so now I  just want to stop showing up to work. I don’t want to give a two weeks notice and I don’t want to tell them I’m quitting. I don’t plan to use them as a reference and I have other work experience. So i’m just wondering how this will impact me negatively? I’ve never done this before i’ve either quit or given my two weeks. Would I have to go back to get my last (first) paycheck? (I have direct deposit set up) Also they haven’t even made me fill out my tax paperwork which I thought you should fill out when you get hired…so should I do that on mytime before I go? Trying to leave this place and avoid it afterward at all costs.  Thanks for the help fellow haters of Target.

  • I just started a seasonal position in hardlines (I think. They said hardlines but all my training has been in softlines.) I overheard one of my other team members say they minimized the training for seasonal employees, but my training almost seems nonexistent. The only decent training I had was on registrars, and the other trainers just hand me stuff to reshop for them. The day after my first day they had me work a full shift without a trainer, but I was so confused and I honestly didn’t know what I was doing. My other team members always seem annoyed when I ask for help. This is my first job too.

  • Lets set the scene.

-Disclaimer to any of my Softline TM or the guy in the backroom who quit right before I did. You guys were the best TM ever. Fuck the higher ups.-

I’m 18, a full time student, and worked at the busiest, and richest(meaning guests were hella rich), Target in my area. I’m talking Tiger Woods, Shaq, and owner of all the West Gate Resorts kind of rich(he’s building the biggest family home in america. 52 bathrooms big). I get it your RICH! But you don’t have to be so mean or creepy(we’ll get to that in a bit). This was my second job, first in retail. I don’t know if all retail is like this, but if it is, I don’t ever want to do retail again.

  • So for most of my life I never really cared about Black Friday. Now after a year at target I realized something. People get taken away from family just for assholes who want 5 bucks off a flat screen. People have died at Black Friday from being trampled peoples bones have been broken. My manager 8 years ago got knocked over and he’s a tall guy. He dislocated his knee and couldn’t work for 8 months. And why? Because of assholes who want 4 bucks off of tampons. The thought of Black Friday makes me so angry. I thought about this in the comfort of my room for an hour. I hate the thought of Black Friday. When I leave target I will never attend a Black Friday for any reason. Guest are fuckin annoying enough but when you pull me away from my family when you pull hardworkers away from there kids. I just can’t stand the thought. I straight up told my team lead etl and manager “schedule me on Black Friday period and I will call in” they didn’t listen and well if they fire me that’s there problem. My best wishes to everyone who has to sit through a wave of assholes. I needed this out of my system

  • So I’m back room and for those who don’t know we have to handle FA which is pretty much for lazy people. For awhile people are actually using it for minor stuff like maybe some medicine baby stuff, a toy or a cd. About 4 months ago I check FA and boom there’s one in there. Usually whoever sees it calls it out and whoever turn it is does it. So it was my turn I had to go to lunch but I thought I could finish it quick. Then I see the size of the FA… 25 Dpci and 40 items total. I start it but I can’t finish it in time before my 5 hours so I stay a little longer still not done and I’m about I hit meal compliance. This bitch litterally just used FA for her shopping list. I was so pissed. Who the fuck is this lazy I fuck hope I never see this woman or I swear I will call her out on it. So I couldn’t hold myself back.

    Mired in Hell

I started working at Target on the flow team about 3 months ago.  I was never trained just thrown on the back of the line and that was that.  If it wasn’t for my coworkers telling me what to do I would’ve been lost.  Some how the flow team is always understaffed but harassed about going over time and taking too long.  Here’s a riddle, how do 6 people unload a 2400 piece truck?  It’s the Target way.  I despised our team leader, never says anything positive, always is harsh and negative.  We’ve even had guest defend us from his tirades…the sad part is I think he’s an asshole because the guy over him is chief of the assholes.  I’ve heard his comments and attitude and I’m wanting to actually defend our team leader from him.  The top manager, the assistant manager, and the other leaders of respective departments are all cool.  The store I’m at is utter chaos and dysfunctional.

    How I escaped Hell

I worked for target for 4 years and for almost the last 2 I was a GSA. Which pretty much means the GSTL’s bitch.  I busted my ass harder than anyone’s.

But any who, I quit back in June, with no job lined up and this was the happiest I’ve ever been in my life. I had o move back in with my parents because I could no longer pay the bills.

So many things built me up to my quiting moment. But I have to say I never cried there (I’m a guy but there were times I wanted to break down) and I’m proud of that.

New ETL here. Please give me all of your concerns.

So, I’ve just accepted a job at Target as an ETL and plan on working my way into HR because that is what my degree is concentrated in. My main focus for this job is to figure what needs to be changed so that our employees have high moral. I really like focusing on team development and would love for you all to share what you think needs to be improved. Now obviously I can’t make changes in all of the Target stores but I can at least start with one and as I work my way into HR I would have more leverage on trying to implement new ideas to help management be better.

    Thanks you guys!

  • I started working at Target about eight years ago. I don’t anymore, but I have tried to come back. It worked twice. It doesn’t anymore. See at the last one I worked at, there were these new hires I was “training”. They told me the merchandise they were told to stock was on the front side of the line, so I walked that direction. Then it was “oops, I meant the other side” so I walked to the other side. It was on the front. They were wrong. After a day of putting up with these kids bragging about World of Warcraft and their rogue characters or whatever it was, then singing “What did the fox say” over and over again, well I was annoyed. I leapt the line. I was tired, didn’t feel like walking back around yet again. Allow me to make something clear. We were never told that jumping over the line was in violation of safety policy (I never heard of it in eight entire years). The only way I learned that was when one of the LODs caught me and told me not to do it. I apologized and said I didn’t know, I would never do it again. The very next day I was taken into the office and written up for that, even after apologizing and vowing never again. How honorable of you, Target.

ALEX FROM TARGET BROUGHT UP OLD WOUNDS

The latest news regarding #alexfromtarget made me realize quitting Target was not a mistake. Besides the usually retail pettiness I mentioned earlier that goes on I noticed that some customers (guests-if that’s what you want to call them the way some of them behave) were taking pictures of employees with their phone making fun of them. I was really disturbed by this feeling like it was extremely violating to someone and people shouldn’t be doing it at all. Is this some kind of trend now? Taking pictures of employees without their permission. If I don’t put myself on the internet I’m certainly not ok with someone else doing it. People have gotten ruder and nastier than ever before and it sickens me.Alex From Target hit the bullseye. I think Target would of been a great place to work if it weren’t for one thing. People. Did I mention I got a survey in the mail from the Target I worked at asking me why I quit. So I put Rude Coworkers and sent it back to them. Not barely 3 days later the HR girl called wanting me to clarify what I meant. Of course I didn’t call back. They can’t leave me alone. They didn’t seem to want to contact me when I DIDN’T SHOW UP.
