I’ve been with Big Red for about 2 years solely as a cashier. In that time I’ve been totally jerked around: I had 12 years experience in retail, handled $200,000 accounts in my former real job and have been screamed at by people over REAL issues and not just where their damned bread is, and managed a crew of five bringing in trucks and maintaining a stockroom – none of which counted for anything when I was hired. Mgmt didn’t even know my history or care. I was offered a position in electronics which never materialised unless they wanted me to fill in for their breaks, I pushed carts in a pinch in the rain though I’m over 30, My first raise evaporated when they bumped up starting pay to $8.25 (so I was only making as much as a new hire, and expected to train them!).

So in continuation of my previous post just recently I got called in and accused for a having two no call no shows. When I was told this I immediately ask what day the second one was on cause I remember the first one cause I ended up showing up at the time I was supposed to be leaving for that shift due to putting in the wrong time on my phone by accident and if I missed a day I surely would have heard about it the next day I worked. Turns out the second one was on a day that I actually did work and I remember working that day too cause they had called me a few hours before my shift to see if I could come in the next day and then called me again an hour later telling me they didn’t need me to come in the next day anymore. That was also the day before our store had a visit from the DM and I remember the LOD that night complimented me on how good my zone was. During the time we’re waiting to get a confirmation that I did work that day the TL I was talking to dropped this lovely little line to me when I asked why they wouldn’t have called me, “While some TLs or LODs might call to see where some one is at sometimes, that is not my responsibility.” What little faith I had in this stores management was instantly lost when I heard this.

So for the past three months it seems that my store is trying to find as much shit they can so they can fire me in the near future. I had started noticing it around the end of March when it seemed like around every corner there was an LOD or TL ready to tell me to do something or make sure I’m “on task.” It wasn’t until the beginning of April that my suspicions were confirmed when I got called in to have a lovely little corrective action talk. The three things they listed off to me were that I was hanging around electronics to much and in turn slacking off according to them thus “making everyone else having to pick up the slack”, I neglected to pick up and hang signs back up on to here hangers, and one night I had forgotten to zone the back wall of toys and had to be reminded to go and do it. Finally towards the end I was told that I’m not communicating on the walkie enough, I’m not doing pulls, reshop, and zoning fast enough with a sense of urgency, and it seems like I don’t want to be there.

So I’ve worked at Target for almost 2 years and I just got my review(woohoo! a 12 cent raise because I’ve worked their for 22 months, so my pay is not $8.22) and during my review the GSTL told me that my attendance was at 95% and my cashier speed was 98%. She said that most people don’t have the 95% attendance and would love for everyone to have it that high. I was so happy, someone was actually acknowledging me for something good that I do, since I get almost no stupid REDcards.
So I went back out to my lane and I was asking almost every guest. I was asking the way they told me ask, by “engaging” with them, blah blah blah, and then that same GSTL has to just hover over me the whole night, telling me to make sure I push the “additional assistance” button when there is a backup, or circling the survey. REALLY? Does anyone care about the survey? NO! And no one wanted a stupid REDcard. How am I supposed to get to our store goal of 2.05 conversion when no one wants a card?!! last year the goal was 1.05% and I was barely there, now it has raised and it’s just gotten ridiculous!
Whenever one of the annoying GSTL’s or LOD/ETL is on shift, they always just stand near my lane, making sure I’m doing my job and then they find some stupid way to criticize me.
Why do all the people that tell me every single day to get a REDcard never have to actually be on a lane and get a REDcard? I want them to see how “easy” it really is, forcing these people to get card.

Every other department got their reviews 2 or 3 weeks ago. But us we barely started getting ours today. I get mine tomorrow and I am not very excited. For what for the change they’ll be giving us? Its all BS, in the end they sit you down tell you, you did okay only to give you pennies. Why is that? oh because your absences that you had good reasons for being absent. Not like some of these kids that call in last minute because they were out drinking the night before. So all the cross training and the staying late or coming in early or coming in on your days off doesnt count for anything? All the hard work doesnt pay off at Target. You can work at this place for a lifetime and they will never be happy with the effort you put in. The etls see you struggling trying to keep up with the work they demand and just look the other way. Instead of them helping you pick clothes off the floor its so much easier to call a team member that was busy putting up stray and telling them to pick it up. And as if its not good enough they make a second round and ask why you still haven’t done it. Just because they have a business degree doesn’t give them a right to look down on us. They can bend down the same way we do and pick that shit off the floor. They can use their damn hands and check out some guests or put up some stray. Really I look forward to the day where I can say fuck you Target and Good Bye! Oh and the fucking Red Cards!

When I got hired I was told that if you available to work from 8am to 12:00am I would get more hours now I realized that is nothing but a god dam fucking lie, phony and fake. During the holiday season I didn’t get home until 1AM and I had to return back to Target at 8AM without enough time to sleep and no time to rest no overtime no benefit. After the holiday the LOD, ETL and TL wrote me up for not following instruction:
I was put on corrective action reports twice in less than 6 months for more lie, phony and fake. It is such a waste of money and time for those LOD ETL keep typing and typing, printing and printing, signing and signing those corrective action reports for more lie, phony, fake and making all those false statement sitting on that comfortable chair, while other TM are breaking their legs and getting backache standing on the selling floor working hard.
The corrective action reports are as follow:

I thought this was only at my store, but after reading a previous post, I think now many targets are doing this. so right now, if you are a cashier and you don’t get a REDCard during your shift, you have to go see the LOD at the end of the day, who basically asks you “What do you think you could have done differently to get a REDCard?” Umm, IDK, you fucking tell me? is it that hard for them to grasp that people just don’t want the damn REDCards? I don’t see the LODs and TLs out there helping the store get them. I’d love for an LOD of a TL to actually stand in front of a register for a whole shift and try to sell at least one REDCard. The best part about the whole situations is that the LODs expect you to figure out how to sell them, instead of them coming up with better ways to push them. I’m sorry, but I do not get paid enough to deal with REDCards. you want to tell me it’s one of my core roles as a cashier? well, news flash buddy: my main core role is vibing with my “guest” so they have a positive experience. how do you think nagging them incessantly about REDCards makes them feel? Is that the image they want associated with Target? W/e, it’s their store, if they want to scare all the customer out of the store, I say fuck it. At least Target isn’t my life’s priority.

The people who never show up, slack off, don’t do their jobs, get to stay and not get a coaching. Those of us that actually DO their job and DO show up? One call off and it’s as if you murdered their child.
There’s a girl that works there that BULLIES her peers, yet they won’t do anything about it! If you have a problem, they just put it on someone else. They lie to cover up their mistakes.
Normally, if you’re a TL and you tell a TM about what you heard in your meeting/stuff nobody else is supposed to know (i.e. coaching) that’s grounds for firing.. Oh, but not here! If I found out somebody told others about a coaching I got, I would most definitely be PISSED.
Cart attendants get nothing. They bust their hineys, and nothing to show for it. Right now, ALL of guest service is looking for other jobs, and half the front lanes. Tired of getting overlooked for a job well done, and getting treated like crap. But apparently WalMart is doing a good job at fixing their management problems. I feel like corporate doesn’t even do anything about your complaints either..
Side note. Does anyone know why a store would constantly be getting visits? 🙂

I have been here for 7 years. SEVEN YEARS! I transferred to this store. Thinking I can better my experience at Target and promote. My first time applying for TL hadn’t even gotten my interview yet, and I was already hearing that someone else had gotten the position. My second time, my HR treated me horribly throughout the entire interview. Making me feel like crap about everything I said. Ever since that interview, she has treated me even more horribly. Recently I had issues with my pay check. My HR told me it was my fault, and gave me attitude and lied that she “can’t do anything about it”. Bull. I’ve had my old HR help me with a problem with a paycheck before. You only get promoted if you’re a favorite of HR. They even made a TL position for HR just so they can promote a favorite. You’re only gold if you get RedCards. The favoritism that goes on in this store is ridiculous. I get all kinds of guests commenting about how great I am. But, I get nothing for it. I had been trying SO hard to promote, but the way they are treating me is awful. I can’t believe these LODs even have a job after being open for 2 years. I dread going into work now. Screw you, Target!
