On June 14, I started working at Target at the Hilldale Shopping Center in Madison, Wisconsin. I am originally from Iowa but I have an aunt who lives in Madison, and I needed the extra money for college so I moved to Madison for the summer. I was hired on the spot during my interview to work in the Cafe, due to my food retail experience in working in campus dining. Things didn’t go so well from the start when I barely got a few days of training.

(2) I would like to start out by saying this site has kept me sane for a while now and some of the posts you guys have are funnier than shit. Anyways, I work flow team and I have never felt so under-appreciated in my whole life. (Sidenote, I did say work because sadly at the moment I am still employed with Target, but only for another 9 days) Being on flow team presents an unrealistic work load for the amount of people and time that we get.
Likes(17)Dislikes(1) I have read a whole lot of post describing Leadership stating that you have to get a certain amount of redcards a day. This is a load of shit. I don’t have a handbook to reference but I think I remember it saying that you only have to mention it during your transactions with the guest, or promote it. Doesn’t say shit about getting a certain amount. They are hiring you as cashiers not a sales person.
Likes(19)Dislikes(2) Hello all, I’ve been reading several posts here and I’ve been inspired to give me story on what’s like to work as cart attendant. First, I should note as to why I started working for Target: up until recently, I was happily employed at a company which paid me $12 an hour. At the time, being that I had a stable, decent-paying job, I purchased a new car, a 2007 Jeep, since not only was my then-car more than 20-years-old and failing, but also being that my job was more than 30 miles from my home. In addition to that bill, I had a hospital bill relating to my first job. In short, I was (am) knee-deep in debt.
Likes(29)Dislikes(6) So Last Monday I got a call from a woman at Target stating they want to set up a phone interview for Wednesday at 5pm. I told her that it would be fine and thanked her. I been unemployed for almost 4 months now and had little success with getting interviews, so I was fine with a phone interview.

I love helping people even with the tiniest things because that’s just something that gives me a lot of fulfillment, I work hardlines most of the time and I love being able to help a guest find something they need and hearing them appreciate it makes me so happy that I can buzz the rest of my shift away.
Likes(18)Dislikes(1) First post on the board and I cant wait to share my experience as a cashier. I was hired for pricing with the understanding i would not have to do anything else. After being hired, they said that cross training is necessary and I will have to be trained as a cashier for backup only. I actually believed it so I trained with a trainer and that was that. Trained for a day and was certified. After about a month, I was scheduled for cashier in a 4 hour shift.
Likes(36)Dislikes(18) It’s pretty fucked up for me to say this, but even though I’ve only been with Target for a little over a year and a half, I’m completely fed up with this bullshit. Red cards are literally all that matters at my store. Literally.
It doesn’t matter how hard of a worker you are, or how many tasks you can accomplish in your down time, or even how “Fast, fun, and friendly” you are. At the end of the day, if you’re not slapping out those goddamn credit cards like candy, you’re not good enough for them.
