So we all know it’s gonna be hell. BUT, to any long-term cashiers out there, we’d like your advice for the Black Friday/Thanksgiving crap. Give us advice. Don’t want to hear your petty problems. You made it this far, so don’t reply to this if it’s not helpful…

Let me start by saying I have been at target for a little more then a month. Everything was good. All though now that i think about it there seems to be only four old cashiers every other one has been there as long as me.

So I let my boyfriend convince me to apply for target when he got hired on and they called me for an interview and they basically told me that I was shit. They said they wanted the “perfect fit” for target and that I just wasn’t cutting it and then proceeded to tell me other job options and to try again for target. Got me so fucked up.

I’m on Loa, but have a much better job now. I thought I could do both at first, which is why I went loa. I’m doing really well at my other job, and can’t do both because target will pull away from said new job.

So here I am bitching again. So the schedule for the week of 11/19 has been posted and for the THIRD straight week in a row, I have a closing shift on a Friday (midnight) only to be scheduled again at 8:00-9:00 AM on Saturday! This is quite a shitty thing to do based on how many new people they’ve hired in the past month, don’t ya think?

So I had the classic Target experience that many of you have shared (no training, pushing red cards way too much, horrible hours, crappy leaders, bad organization of the company). I started in late May 2016 as a cashier and of course because of all the previous listings I quit about a month later (no 2 weeks notice-quit on the spot). However I JUST got an email saying I have an unclaimed paycheck.

So, weren’t we taught in this society that “no” means “no?” I thought so until today when I was pulled aside and “reminded” that when up-selling the RedCard to guest that if they say no initially, that I;m supposed to keep badgering them anyway!!! So, here’s my spiel…Hi, will this be on your RedCard today, “no”….Would you like to apply and save fucking (just kidding) 5% today and every time you shop” Guest…”NO”, That’s fine, your total is….

So I’ve worked at Target for 2 years on the “flow team”. I put in my 2 weeks back in July and it felt so great. I felt like I had my Target shackles removed on my last day. Im applying for another job right now and they need a reference letter from my supervisor from Target. I’ve had great reviews since I’ve been there. I went into my old Target store (it was like walking back in hell) asking my old “ETL” if she could write me a reference letter. She said no. “It’s against Target policy”.

so i’ve been working at target as a cashier for about a month now. from the get go, i already had a bad feeling. i didn’t get shit for training. they threw me at an empty register with a booklet and told me to read through it, and to turn on my lane light if i needed help. any time i needed help, any of the supervisors that came to help me were just a fucking asshole about it and treated me like i was an idiot. (they still do if i occasionally need help)

This isn’t necessarily a rant on unfair practices, but more me wanting to voice a concern of mine. Ever since I graduated with a Bachelor’s in business management, I began seeking entry level management positions. Naturally, I made the reasonable decision to ask my ETL about potential to move up from a team member to team leader.
