    TARGET EMPLOYEES NEED TO UNIONIZE!!

I stand behind all of you out there fed up by the incapable team leads and management more inept then a gold fish to lead staff members. UNIONIZE!!! I am aware how frightening it is to even say the word while at work. The anti-union propaganda; it’s there to keep you from a safe, and happy work environment. I pray the fear tactics will someday stop. Keep notes on your safety issues! Call OSHA and report them. I have done it. They were fined! (Not story that they told….I have the report to prove otherwise!) Give them some frustration….Lord knows they love giving it to us! Spend some time and anonymously report their pain in ass “supervisors.” I pray for all those employees out there that they are not left cripple like I was, because of Target’s management staff my life is forever changed….I post here to encourage you all. The ONLY hope is union, union, union…….UNION!!

    Poop On You, Target.

That’s right, Target…poop on you. Them’s fightin’ words. I quit Target after 4 1/2 years. I mainly worked in Apparel, since I’m female and Target is sexist. 🙂 I transferred from a high-volume, do-everything-right store…to a low-volume, “What the fuck are we doing?” store. Anyways, long story short, I brought the store from consistent Red visits in Apparel to consistent Green visits. I re-trained existing employees on Brand, culture, POG and Sales Planner building, zoning, etc…. My team lead was a dude….who had NO idea what the hell he was doing. He’d done price accuracy or POG crap…or some such shit in Hardlines his whole “career”. (I put career in quotations, because anyone who considers Target their long-term employment enrichment source is smoking something). Anyways, I quit January 21st, and so obviously there was no longer anyone there to fix his fuck-up’s. Well, his visits went from good to “What the hell happened?”. He was transferred out of Apparel and back into Hardlines for being a screw up from Hell, and some other dipshit who has no idea what he’s doing has been put there instead.

I love this story because I was under-appreciated and taken advantage of while I was there. I fixed my Team Lead’s massive fuck ups for him daily, while he got pats on the back every visit by our DTL who didn’t even know my name…although I was the one rocking out with my metaphorical cock out.

Now they see what a dumbass this dude is and gave him the boot back to Hardlines. I just love it. And I love not having to ever walk back in there and see that stupid-ass Spot. Ugh…I hate that dog.

    Greatest Deception

I, like every person out there, believed Target was a better employer than Walmart. Take it from someone who has worked for both companies, the only difference between T and W is that Target is way better at deception. Target DOES NOT care about their employees. Their idea of appreciating an employee is handing them an ice cream cone and a red card, like we are five year olds. They are the most anal retentive company I have ever work for. They cannot even give us 15 minutes extra of payroll and they try their best to cut 15 minutes when possible. Our shifts aren’t long enough to say that we are eating up the payroll budget  and our pay is minimal so it just amazes me how far this company will go to save a few bucks. Walmart wasn’t perfect but it was never that stingy. I keep reading people’s comment “its retail, what do you expect” and I think its such a defeatist comment. What if people working in steel mills and other factory jobs had said that. They wouldn’t have unionized and bettered their lives. Just because our jobs consist of scanning items and cleaning after the pigs who decide to come out of their sties only to mess up our stores does not mean that we don’t deserve to make a livable wage. I keep hearing that the reason why we retail employees are paid so little is because our jobs aren’t so hard…trust me, it takes a lot of restraint not to punch some of these customers, managers, and co workers in the face. It takes a lot of grace and strength to go to work everyday smiling, doing a hundred things at a time and knowing that at the end of your shift you’ve made less than $30. Target, with its fast fun friendly motto,  has done a great job at painting themselves as the good guy but the truth is that Target, just like Walmart, has fought off unions. Target spends more time showing an anti-union video to its new hires than on their training. That alone tells you how much Target cares about their employees. They pay their employees less and get more out of them.

    I was crippled by Target

I work for the Pueblo Colorado Dist. Center. 15 years I worked there! 4 years ago, they told me that I had to drive the red tagged equipment or be fired!! I am single Mom with 5 kids; I drove it. I could not afford to be fired. Needless to say, it had no brakes, no steering and I was crushed! In the state of Colorado YOU CAN NOT SUE YOUR EMPLOYER!! I did go to court for my medical care because they dropped all my care 6 weeks after my accident……I was in a walker. I have nerve damage called C.R.P.S.. It basically tells my brain I am in the height of the accident 24/7/365. (The work comp. doctors knew I had this but FAILED to tell me. They did release me to FULL DUTY in my walker??)

I have won 4, yes four times in court now. They have written their acceptance for liability twice. STILL THEY PAY NOTHING!! I need a surgery that costs a quarter mill. I owe over a quarter mill………The Sedgewick claims management co denies all medical!! By the way, Target is SELF insured, Sedgewick just handles claims….That is Target language for confusing and B.S.ing.. A lot like Hewitt, where it’s much more paper work and nothing gets done!

I am calling out to ALL Target employees……WE ARE SLAVES WITHOUT LAWS TO PROTECT US. Call O.S.H.A…..report unsafe work environments! It IS confidential……………Take notes at your safety meetings! There is a reason they WONT KEEP RECORDS WE CAN REACH! I know many things that can help you if you were hurt. Colorado is awful, if I quit my position to get state help, then I accept responsibility for my medical costs. So Target holds me in a state of “INACTIVE EMPLOY” Write to your state officials! Contact me TRCrackers@msn.com……..This is not a place of employment, it is a place where you are a slave tossed out like a dog when you are of no further use to them. It is not taxpayer responsibility to pay medical costs to injured workers. It is corporate responsibility!!!! The rich are getting richer, and the workers are getting screwed!! Let’s help each other………If a union rep had been in the building I could have said “NO.”  There is your reason they FEAR UNION…………..!!! Stick together, I fear for my co-workers….those I know and those I don’t! God bless, I appreciate any prayers to help me have strength in my battle, it is all of you that keep me fighting the evil known as TARGET!!

Target is filled with a bunch of nonsense….

So yea, I am currently a back room team member overnight and and I used to work dayside and let me tell you, there is a big difference.  I mean, I enjoyed working in the back room during the day because I got to know my fellow team members and I made a lot of friends and was able to b/s with them.   I decided I wanted to go overnight because I figured how much different can it really be?  Well, it all started out fine and then all of a sudden, I am catching crap from my ETL’s left and right after I have gotten nothing but recognition when I worked dayside.  Then I went for a position because I felt like it wasn’t working out on the overnight shift and then all of a sudden, I get pulled into the office and am put on corrective action, therefore smashing my hopes of leaving the backroom.  They explained to me that I was not being productive enough and that we had several “conversations”.

  • So i know im most likely going to come off as a spoiled brat but I really want to be fired. Im 20 years old and in college, and before anyone says it, target is actually my 4th job, which includes subway, mcdonalds, and a professional office, and i hate target so much id willing go back to my fast food job. i was never hired as seasonal but to get the job i had to have complete open availability, so as soon as my 3 month trail period was over i dropped my availability down for school, and its been down hill from there. never mind that i worked waaay over over 30 hours a week and managed somehow to go to school full time for the 1st 3 months i worked there. they also schedule me at times that buses do not run, and i dont drive.  i have been “coached” for multiple things from zoning too slow(i had never been trained in hardlines before, simply because i am female, likewise there are no males in softlines), zoning too sloppy, wearing a blue shirt under a red sweater (although multiple etls had complimented me on it, this has happened two times with different shirts), and for attendance. im tired of coming home crying after every shift and I’ve never been fired before, but to be honest i wish i was. I live at home with my parents and they pay for most of my needs so i dont need the job to survive, and while only getting 6 hours a week now i dont think the money really matters, i’m pretty sure they’re trying to get me to quit on my own though. So that kinda brings me to my problem, my mother has told me to quit multiple times, but my father is old school and would totally kill me if i quit, but i think he would be pretty sympathetic to me being fired. So if i wanted to get fired other than by, i guess, being myself, what should i do? should i just do a no call no show? and if i do get fired does anyone know what i should expect?

  • I have been working at my Target store since September 2011. I got hired right before the holiday season, but was not seasonal. I was cross-trained in softlines, hardlines, and cashiering. I was taught how to push CAFs, work the fitting room, work in electronics, and even put the phones on overhead! How enjoyable my days were at Target before the holidays started.

When I was hired, I was warned by the ETL that there would be nights we would not get out until midnight .. especially with the upcoming holiday season. I agreed, yes, I can see how this is possible. I understand. I have worked in retail before, I know the demands. I know guests can be rude, I know I’ll be expected to run my butt off for little pay, I understand that there will be little appreciation. Regardless, I have found that Target is one of the only places I know of that will allow a full-time college student to work 40 hours a week. How lucky am I?

I never get a weekend off.

I been working at the same target for more then a year now, I probably gotten one weekend off the entire time. They will give weekends off to two of the same cashiers all the damn time. Why? because they sell red cards. there is an old guy and a Mexican women who both have an honest face but lies through their teeth about the REDcards, telling guest whatever they want to hear. So they get rewarded for lieing that great A college student like me who goes to school and work and be honest about everything get to work all weekend as a reward. When spring semester ends I will be looking for another job and I will never give them greedy basted my money again.

    I seriously want to quit.

I started working for target in august 2010. It was my first job. I started out at 7.50. I didn’t think it was that bad. And i figured that after a few months, I’d get a raise. Wrong. It took me 8 months to get a raise of a whopping $.13. I worked my ass off for these people. Coming in when they called me, staying later than my shift, doing extra stuff. I’ve worked for two targets. And the second one I worked, at the LODs were horrible. They were so snotty. And certain ones would just sit in their offices on their computer while us team members worked non-stop. Our ETL even said that we weren’t even allowed to speak to each other when we zoned. We did wave zoning most of the time. Like there would be 3 of us in hardlines and we would zone c&d and then a&b. We each had to take 5 aisles and zone it by ourselves to ensure that there was no fun being had. I’ve been working there for a year and half now and I’m still not making $8 an hour. Which I find horrible. Gas stations start you out more than that. After I get out, I will never go back to target. Ever. I would love to get at least 30 hours a week, but at the most, I get 25. And then they call me on my days off almost every time. One time during the holiday season, we worked until 3 AM. I wouldn’t have been bothered by it if they paid me more. but I almost worked 12 hours that day. And the HR at my other store was a complete bitch. There was a girl i worked with in softlines that had limited availability because of her kids. And they always scheduled her out of her availability. So she went and talked to the HR and the HR told her that she needs to come talk to her when she figures it out. So she left. And I had this very very annoying GSTL. I always hated being a cashier when he was there because he would never leave is alone about the damn REDcards. Every 5 minutes, he’d say “are you asking about redcards? REDCARDS REDCARDS come on” I wanted to slap him. I can’t wait to leave.
