    I Hate My Job

Okay thank God for this website. I have worked for target for about 5 and a half months and I hate it so much. I’m only 19 and everyone I work with is older. I hate when they treat me like they are more important than me. I am a sales floor member in softlines and a back up cashier. Okay first of all I signed up for a full time but I only get about 2 to 3 days a fucking week and they are like 4 hour shifts. Then every day that I am not scheduled, they call me in the morning because they want me to come in. Uhm do you not have enough employees can you leave me the fuck alone sometimes? When I cashier I NEVER ask the “guest” if they want to sign up for a stupid red card because it feels annoying and I hate when people do that shit to me. The only thing getting me through this annoying ass job is all the other Co workers that I’m friends with that complain as much as I do. I usually don’t even put shit back in the right place and I’m really lazy and slow. I’m surprised they still keep me and they have never complained about my work. And they better not cause their bullshit is not worth the pay. Plus I have another job anyway so I have to change my target availability. Hopefully that goes over well. I have have to go there in 13 hours to work and I’m already dreading it.

Target is not Fast, Fun, and Friendly!

Last year I left my job at Target (over 2 yrs.).  The management didn’t know how to run the store properly.  I worked in the Starbucks franchise inside the Target store in Cherry Hill, NJ.  We lost 2 baristas in the span of 2 months.  This left us with 1 team lead and 3 part-time baristas to work 7:30am to 9:30pm Monday thru Saturday and 7:30am to 8:30pm on Sundays. One part time person had extremely limited hours ( No new employees were hired for the positions until 4 months later). They had me working hours alone at night giving me no help when I called for it. WITH NO TRAINING TO DO SO, they gave me new people to train.  I had reported this to my supervisor, human resources manager, and the store manager and no action was taken.  I was just told to do my best.  I walked into the store one morning, handed in my uniforms to a LOD and explained to her why I was resigning.  Target claims that I was a no call no show for the 5 days after I quit.  After waiting almost 3 months I am currently still awaiting an answer from an appeal for unemployment I made against Targets response to me filling.  This is not acceptable behavior for a company, especially one that claims to be FAST, FUN, AND FRIENDLY!

    Finally Getting the Hell Out

Hello, fellow Target haters. I am very pleased to announce that after almost 5 years of slavery to this hellish company, I have put in my notice and am running the f*ck away. I will never shop Target after my last day, as I now know how the employees are treated. The only reason I shop there as it is, is because I work there and get the measly 10% discount. (Pinch me!! TEN percent??).

During my time at Targay, I broke the golden rule of never having your cell phone on the sales floor…and I used my cell phone to take pictures of my bosses breaking rules, being lazy, and projects that were wildly f*cked up beyond comprehension. (Projects my boss either did, or assigned to somebody else and ignored their screw ups). I took pictures of the projects after I’d go in and fix them up, and I’m e-mailing it all to my district team lead this Saturday. Not so that I can ever have a chance at getting a job there again, but so that the employees I’m leaving behind might have it a little better once the DTL sees what’s going on there. Not just the perfectly-zoned store, or the fake smiles, or hearing the prepared answers to his questions.

I find that after reading through this site quite thoroughly that I am definitely not alone in my experiences with Target. I have worked at several different stores, and while I was employed at the first store, I thought, ‘This place is so messed up…I should transfer to a store that treats its employees fairly’. So I did transfer, and found the exact same problems at that store…management is lazy, employees are unhappy, and nobody has any real qualifications to be leaders…they don’t even really possess natural leadership abilities. They are simply young kids, fresh out of college, who scored a gig being a manager at a Big Box retail store. Since most of them are all in their early 20’s, they still have the egotism of a toddler first breaking free of its dependence on its parents. Target’s management staff is oftentimes totalitarian, and is ran like a dictatorship. The management places themselves on a pedestal, not realizing that they are simply poorly-paid employees of a much bigger picture.

I Hate Target and it Does Suck

I have worked at target for a little over four years now. When I started there I liked the place and thought it was a good place to shop and work.

well the stuff that i have seen there has totally changed my opinion on the store.

I have seen with my own eyes how the store cuts hours of people that have been with the store for more time, and give extra hours to new hires at the same time. they would rather save a few cents and have a new hire in the building than pay the experienced worker for the same hours.

one thing that pro target people might be interested to learn is that other than cardboard the store does not recycle anything. at my store at least all the stuff that guests put in those nice recycling bins gets thrown out  with the normal trash. i am willing to bet if it happens at the store i work in at happens at others…

  • Most of the people on this site are idiots. You guys don’t hate Target you hate working RETAIL. Of course you have to work holidays, of course the pay sucks, and of course your hours go up and down like crazy, it’s the nature of the beast. But all in all Target isn’t that bad, when used appropriately. Anyone working in retail as their long-term career is gonna be miserable.  Jobs like this are supposed to give you a little cash while you are working on bigger and better things.

I just got hired on as a seasonal Flow team member, and I’m working on my BA in IT, I like it so far because I don’t plan on staying here forever. My manager is really nice since has a crush on me (and he’s cute) so that helps hahahaI.  But anyway I show up, do my job get paid and move on… I suggest you all do the same.  If you want a better job, educate yourself so you become deserving of a position that pays great, has steady hours, benefits, etc…

Anyone out there work for a DC?

I work for the one in Kansas. I can tell you it is just as bad there as it is in the stores. Granted we do make a bit more, but they work us 5.5 hrs before our first break on a 12 hr shift. This past summer when it was really hot we had One teamember drop a day in the l loading or un loading teammember drop frOm heat. No extra breaks. They just tell us to drink over 120oz of water

  • I got a new white 8 Gig iPod Touch from target for Christmas from my mom. She bought it on black Fri and it came with a 40 dollar gift card. my mom used the 40 dollar gift card not thinking otherwise. Well i got the ipod on christmas. It froze on the second fucking day. I was pretty pissed, but i took it back and target gave me a giftcard and a raincheck so i coukld get the ipod for the 160 like my mom paid. I was like “ok cool ill just get a new one” But Target didn’t want me to. Target decided that they were gonna be out of the 8 gig white ipods. 2 days in a row I called target at the openin time. They were always out. So then I started calling other targets and they were all out too. Finally i called and a target had one. so we left for target. When we got there The guy there didn’t have it. They were all out. I told him that I had called not even and hour ago and they said they have 1 left. He says “We haven’t had any the whole day. Thanks Target for lying.

  • A month before x-mas, I ordered a Singer sewing machine for my daughter. Weeks went by so I started calling Target (because they never kept me up to date) at which time the team members would tell me that the item was on it’s way. Four day before x-mas I called again because my gift still had not arrived , but my card had been charged for weeks. It was at that time that a team member told me that the merchandise was on back ordered and that they would refund my money in 10-12 days. So I was now without the gift, without the money and when I asked if they could check if a nearby Target had it, I was told they were all out of stock. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after being hung up on 3 times, the supervisor said there was nothing they could do to help me. I got on the computer and found that they were in stock in a Target an hour away so I took a day off work, drove an hour and bought the same machine but it was $15 more because it was no longer on sale. I will never give them my business.  I tried to call to complain and they refused to allow me to speak to anyone other than the rude, condescending and dismissive team members.  I have never ever been so frustrated and offended by a store. Shame on Target, thanks for saving me a lot of money in your store. The gift cards that I always bought there for my family, I now purchased at a store that cares about their customers and who has good customer service.  I guess the reason your company doesn’t have many complaints is because you don’t provide an avenue for people to file a complaint. How small of you Target!!!

    Liar Liar

Just thought I’d say how Target sucks.  I recently bought a tv there because I was told I would have 6 months free interest on my new Target credit card.  I was also told that the tv came with an keyboard remote.  Neither was true.

I might get fired this week:/

well my name is tony. I’m 19. I was hired by target as seasonal cashier. My store is located in the city of manhattan beach, ca. Well what happened was I was scheduled to work from 4pm to 12:30am last Sunday, but my uncle and his family happened to be in a fatal car accident at around 3:30 pm so while I was preparing to go to work I received a call from my father. He had told me about my uncle. So without calling target and letting my GSTL know what had transpired I quickly drove to the hospital and didn’t go to work that day. Today I was scheduled to work again but I didn’t show up because I was at church and I had forgotten.

Anywho, I don’t think workin at target was working out. I had two lunch violations and I didn’t like working there.

Reasons why were because the GSTL’s At my target are douche’s, slot of the so called “team members” either walk past you and seem to ignore you or they are bitchy, executive team leaders are r******d too. One time my GSTL put me as greeter/cart giver. And one of the exec’s happened to be walkin near the entrance and he told me I wasn’t doing my job when on past 4 days I was at that post for 7 hours straight. He made his fucking comment by just watching me for 5 min’s.

I also hate the hr dept people that are a pain to deal with. . I go to school on tue and thus and I had talked to my GSTL about getting those days off and she said yes. I then proceeded to fill out an availability form and it has been rejected 4 times now. Because of that b/s I have missed three weeks of school. Going back to missing one of my lunches well in reality i had only missed 1 here’s why. In one occasion I had punched the “end meal” button instead of the “work meal” button. I had let the hr person know what happened and she said “oh it’s ok. when you get back from lunch just hit the start work button and we will fix the problem. DONT WORRY” well one week later she calls me in and told me I got another lunch violation and made me sign and initial some stupid papers. I even told her that she said everything was going to be fine and she was going to fix the problem but she just told me. “you still missed your lunch”. I just signed my name on the paper all sloppy and left.
Well this is my experience working at this lame-ass company. I hope at least I do get to keep the job
