I quit/was fired from a Target not too long ago. Not that I would put myself on a pedestal by having been a member of the military, but I have been noted for strong work ethic. I understood the b.s. of this job even though this was my first retail experience. On one Sunday night, I was told to zone Laundry/cat food area and while I’m not 27 people for 27 aisles, I’m just one person so forgive me if a customer misplaces something while my back is turned. Anyway, the store manager was walking my area with my stooge team leader and she was telling him that it doesn’t look like I’ve zoned anything whatsoever…..right in front of me. Now she had no idea I was walking towards her but that was strike 3 to leave this dismal place. The day after halloween we had our team meeting and I asked the assistant store manager if the store manager was there and when he said she wasn’t, I said that “It sucks she’s not here, because I was looking forward to telling her she can go F— herself”. The morale of the story is that I rather be jobless than work at a Target. While $8.50 per hour is not a lot in itself, I rather make LESS and be happy than make more and feel miserable. And with this breach, I’m loving it. Here’s a lesson for you Target and retail: nobody is a machine.

I have worked at a specific target for almost 7 months. During my seven months, I have been talked to at least six times. One of them was a coaching session. I have been talked to about being slow and trying to be fast. Recently, I get comments about one day specifically, a GSA said that they had to ask someone else to do my job (shovel snow and put down salt) because it was snowing. The problem is that the machine that we had doesn’t really work and didn’t work in the snow. I had to go out manually to grab carts and that was the only thing that I could have done. I don’t understand; I can’t be myself nor can I implement other coworkers (I don’t care for saying team members). Recently, I’m finding out that three security gaurds was fired and one was doing his job and a cashier was fired for ‘not doing her job’. Nothing makes sense anymore. Everything that I have seen is bullshit. If I had another job lined up, I would have left.

Ugh I don’t even know where to start.
i was so excited to have gotten my first (actual job) and also excited it wasn’t at mc Donald’s Or something like that. Anyway. I go in for my interview that they called me in for the day before, and no one knew where to send me to or even why I was there. After I had told them at least 3 times i had an interview at the that target and I wasn’t mistaken. After at least 20 minutes of just standing by guest services looking like a random lost girl, someone finally came upto me and brought me upstairs for the interview.(and the store actually was not busy at all,why did it take so damn long?)

I have been working for this particular Target for nearly four months now. I was initially hired for ready-to-wear/fitting room department.
I recently had my 90 day review, I have not been late ONCE, I have NEVER called in sick, I have never breached compliance, and I have not only been present for every scheduled shift but I would extend my shift at request of the LOD and I have even stayed 11 hours during one work day, I have come in on my days off to cover a call-out and I’ve had completely open availability.

Hello fellow Target loathers.
For those of you who haven’t heard, Target suffered a massive data breach between November 27th and December 15th, allowing as many as 40 million credit and debit cards and their information to be stolen. While it sucks that so much sensitive information was leaked, I’m glad something disastrous finally happened to this wretched company.
It’s estimated that Target will have to spend “at least $100 million to cover legal costs and to fix whatever went wrong,” and that’s not even counting the loss of reputation and sales (which has already caused my store to fall almost $200k short of forecast this month alone).
So if you know anyone who shops at Target, make sure they’re monitoring their credit/debit accounts for suspicious activity. Afterwards, take joy in knowing that Target finally got a bit of what’s coming to them for valuing the bottom line over the welfare of their employees.
Here’s an article for the curious:

If the holiday season here, Shouldn’t the GSTL be held responsible for ensuring that everyone on the front lanes has taken their breaks and lunches on time before they hit compliance.
yesterday I was 5 minutes away from hitting compliance and I get chewed out because I didn’t tell anyone that I was hitting the 6 hour mark. Personally, I dont think its my fault because the GSTL at my store have a clipboard with times that everyone should take their breaks and meals.
So, what do you think about it?

I want to disclose first of all, that what I describe below could have happened in any retail store, and happened a very very long time ago. That said, it did happen at Target, therefor, as far as I’m concerned, Target sucks.
I was in high school, and was the go along, get along type, but was becoming the ‘fill in’ chump for the twenty somethings who wanted to go party instead of come in to work. I never missed a shift of work – ever, excused or otherwise.

So, on my last shift, my prediction came true. I was chewed out for essentially being too good a worker. Why/how am I supposed to work the line and/or do reshops if it’s all backstock? Isn’t sticking to the brand of “Fast Fun & Friendly”, being a team player, and showing initiative what you want from us? You just told me I lack initiative, so I guess now I show too much.
So fine. From now on, I’ll do exactly as I’m told. Nothing more, nothing less. Won’t answer any calls on the walkie unless I’m called by name. If Electronics needs help or a Guest asks for something, I’ll just ignore them. That’s exactly what I should be doing, according to them. Just saying “I’m sorry, but could you fuck off so I can finish what I’ve been told to do?”. So fine. I won’t be chummy anymore. I’ll just speak when spoken too. If you don’t appreciate my work ethic and genuine love for providing customer service, that’s your loss.

So I’ve read a lot about all the shit the cashiers have to go through, but the worst of it all is GUEST SERVICE! So my last almost-bitch-slap moment was a few days ago. This woman came in because she purchased an open box of little debbie snacks (FROM ANOTHER STORE). I told her she could grab another box no problem at all. Well, THIS BITCH (woo GHETTO girl voice) has the NERVE to ask me to get someone to grab her a box. It’s noon and the store is packed because of the lunch rush. All of the sales floor is at the registers helping out. I said since we are busy there is probably no one back their to be her little personal shopper. She walks off and mumbles something under her breath. When she gets back she demands I give her the store managers email. Whatever, I grab someone to hand her the information. Since she was waiting on the lady to come back I decide to help out the people behind her (I am the only one in guest service and my line is building up). Immediately she says “Ummm you want to help me first.” I apologize saying I thought you wanted to wait for the woman to bring you the information. Once again this little bitch mumbles something under her breath. My LOD came back and was trying to figure out what was going on and the GUEST is like no I’m too angry right now, I’m going to just send you an email. I was almost skipped in line because she assumed I was waiting for you to come back. I wish I could of taken the broken glass ornament from my counter and stabbed her in her carotid. LMFAO I feel better. Thank you…
