I rather be jobless than work at a target
I quit/was fired from a Target not too long ago. Not that I would put myself on a pedestal by having been a member of the military, but I have been noted for strong work ethic. I understood the b.s. of this job even though this was my first retail experience. On one Sunday night, I was told to zone Laundry/cat food area and while I’m not 27 people for 27 aisles, I’m just one person so forgive me if a customer misplaces something while my back is turned. Anyway, the store manager was walking my area with my stooge team leader and she was telling him that it doesn’t look like I’ve zoned anything whatsoever…..right in front of me. Now she had no idea I was walking towards her but that was strike 3 to leave this dismal place. The day after halloween we had our team meeting and I asked the assistant store manager if the store manager was there and when he said she wasn’t, I said that “It sucks she’s not here, because I was looking forward to telling her she can go F— herself”. The morale of the story is that I rather be jobless than work at a Target. While $8.50 per hour is not a lot in itself, I rather make LESS and be happy than make more and feel miserable. And with this breach, I’m loving it. Here’s a lesson for you Target and retail: nobody is a machine.

It's retail - it sucks...if you can find a retail place that is a bed of roses, please let me know, I would love to work there.
Very true. People need to understand this before going into retail: IT SUCKS AND YOU WILL BE UNHAPPY UNTIL YOU CHANGE JOBS. I assumed everyone knew this but I guess I was wrong.
Consumers especially don't seem to realize how much retail sucks. I've told "guests" about some of the things I have to do - such as go into a now -25°F freezer) while my face is exposed, climb unstable ladders with 50+lbs boxes - and so far they've all been surprised. Retail is hell, but no one knows it except the employees.
I find it great too how we at the bottom are paying the price for the poor decisions of the executive team in relation to the card scandal. Hours at my store are getting cut left and right, regardless of how much it screws up the store, rather than the executive salaries/packages being reduced.
I'm an anarchist. I see that it can become easy to change the way Target is, it's just that the executives and Greg Steinhaffel CEO won't change or recognize any new plans as they wish to be the peoples favorite store to go to and keep getting millions of dollars more than the life and anxiety they give to there employees. I'm surprised I'm still hired as I've told my team leads I'm an anarchist and I won't do what you tell me, I will not ask for the red cards to each guest. I have a tumor in my brain and anxiety seems to cause me headaches faster ever since I have had the tumor. So I guess because of my medical condition they are keeping me.
I used to dream of what you did. Sometimes I still think of walking in and telling those horrible bosses I had to go die in a ditch somewhere and get buried. Anyway, good job for having the guts, target666.
Oh yeah, granted the store manager wasn't there but I did tell the next guy under her.
I am so fucking tired of people getting on their fucking soapbox"well retail sucks what do you expect?" You know what we know that we had to work at that shithole because we were in school or i dunno have chldren and have no other option at the moment. Just because the industry sucks is no excuse to treat people who are honestly just trying to work and get a check like dog shit. I wouldnt have minded the shit so much of I could have gotten oh I dunno AT LEAST 30 HOURS! but nooo it was 22 or for 2 months SIXTEEN. a week. So in this life when YOU are being treated like shit at your job I hope every fucking person comes up to you and says WHAT DO YOU EXPECT DUMBASS YOU WORK IN(fill in the blank) oh but I forgot people like you must live in a magical dimension where you can just want a job and it yours or maybe it the dimension where you live with mommy and daddy until you're 40 or suck off the government tit forever. Its even more insulting that this guy served in the miliatry protecting dipshits like this who couldn't lead themselves out of a paper bag but are a manager at Tarshit. Ever see Office Space? Target needs to end up ike that company did
I love the post. Again, I say I'm not god by saying I was in the military, etc. but like I said in my interview "hey I don't care about the money, I just want to be occupied". And while they knew I was in the military, it should have been mutually noted that I was willing to work hard. Once it was deemed that "it didnt look like I zoned anything", I became very bitter in a hurry. You can do 99 things right, but your stooge team leader sees that one thing you did wrong, you will never hear the end of it.
