Target Sucks - We Hate Target and We Know We're Not Alone.

November 30, 2016 - SoAnxiousToday

Am I ready to leave? A ramble of sorts.

Sometimes I can’t believe it, but I’ve been with Target for nearly 2yrs – No one I was hired with is still there, may I add. My store has such bad turnover, we’re apparently being investigated. And our turnover is rather high; nearly all of my friends that worked there either quit – we’re “fired” -or put in their 2 weeks notice and jumped ship. More are leaving and plan to leave – Like me…

So, here’s my dilemma.

Target is obviously not and never will be a career path for me, it’s a JOB – ansd pays the bills (barely) but hey, a paycheck is better than nothing.

I also have SEVERE anxiety issues (If my name didn’t hint at that) and cannot drive due to them, so location and proximity to my workplace is important while I’m living in the town I’m in (planning to move with my s/o but that’s not the point) – the tragic point is, I fear I am stuck due to convenience.

Now, don’t get me wrong… Target has its ups, though few and far between… And of course, it’s downs: Favortism, blatant discrimination, ETLs & LODs talking in earshot about other TMs, TLs smoking outside their entire shift, visits from corporate GALORE!, and constant damage control… Ugh.

On the up side, I’m trained / can pick up shifts in a lot of different areas and a friend of mine there is looking to have me train in her department which is nice. That’s another thing too… I’ve met a lot of people I do like there and I do enjoy working with a fair deal of people at my store, but the TLs for the most part there are TERRIBLE.

My store is particularly bad, and notorious in our district as “that store” or at least for the most part the store with low quotas that are hardly made and missed sales haha it’s pathetic.

should I stay or should I go?

1. This place stresses me out and gives me panic attacks.

2. I nearly walk out on my shift at least once per shift.

3. I’m beginning to feel like Target is making me worse than I already am.

who knows, they may eventually fire the management

Sounds like me indeed. I am stuck in the same trap. Can't drive because I am 75% deaf. But different is I was completely normal through high school, I could hear normal, did classes perfect almost graduated but now loss of hearing, anxiety more, and I have brain tumor causing sleep apnea so I get tired much faster than anyone else I know. I'm stuck doing part time because of the tiredness.

Oh weird, I wrote almost. No I did graduate high school and got my high school diploma. I remember by whole family came to see me graduate. But these days of course a high school diploma means pretty much nothing as you only get the retail and fast food jobs.

Honestly, I would leave. I still work at Target too and I never saw myself having huge anxiety problems but man did I start developing them. Target would make anyone have anxiety issues. IDK how the few people that have been there long do it. There has been so much fucked up shit at my store. I'm a college student so I'm just working here for a while.

  • Silverfox says:

on the bright side, target is trump free. Could be worse,

My store is a fucking joke too lol we're the worst in the district most of the time.

I can't even imagine an efficent, competent store... I'm constantly dreaming of walking out

Drop down to as few shifts as you can, pick up ones you like. I am basically in the same boat as you!! I want 3 days a week max, and they keep giving me 4-5 and I complain. They stopped for awhile, but next schedule is 4 days, so I posted 2 on the Branch thing for shift swap. I can handle it, but no more than my 3 days...anymore, I might just be a no show and quit.
