My honest experience
I am pouring this from my heart. I started off as a naive worker WILLING and happily able to work, follow directions, and cooperate. That being said, I have put in SO SO much work throughout the years that I almost cry in retrospect at how ungrateful managment, co workers, and target as a corporation in general has “thanked” me for my years of service.
Just to give you an idea, I once willingly stayed THREE hours past my shift, just to finish setting a pog and literally perfecting it. My work ethics drove me to do such things, including being the DOOR GREETER (yes, during the holidays, our store would pick certain people to become door greeters; most employees threw a hissy fit and thus were exempt, but I decided to follow the “fast fun and friendly” ideal and accept (like I said I was very naive). I was always flexible towards any assignment given to me, or asked of me, or anything that needed to be done, I was always with the mindset of ” I have to finish this, I cannot go home until i do”
In sum, over the period of 6 years, i kid you not, the total sum amount of “raises” has been LESS than a dollar combined. The first 2 years, the raise amount was ten cents (yes, thats right, TEN pennies), and has been a meager range between 15 cents to 35 cents since then. When explaining the raise, I was told I was “not doing this right, not responding to back up cashiering WTF?! I ALWAYS fucking respond what the hell are you talking about?!, and other nit picked cherry picked bullshit excuses for the “justification” of your ten cent raise.
Apparently Target Corporation must falsify performances in order to give the least minimum amount of raise to their hard working employees
I stopped giving a flying fuck about Target nowadays (I only work sundays now for extra cash, I got a job at a bank since then:)
I have not met a single “non-disgruntled” employee at Target. EVERYONE at work is disgruntled and bitter. Confidentiality is a joke. You consult the HR personnel on personal matters or unfairness in the workload with other employees and NEXT DAY the rumors spread like a wildfire. Next day, those employees are aware of the things you brought up to HR about them. Management is a joke. I dont even know where to begin on what I have witnessed LOD’s and Team Leads do and get away with. However, when the time comes for that Visit, they expect the store to be flawless, go backs completely done, zone perfected, fake pretending to be nice to each other act.
The workload: With only two team members in Hardlines, only two in softlines, complete ALL your go backs 100%, finish your zones and areas, also cover for “X” breaks, back up cashier, finish all the cafs on the line, and help each and every guest go out of your way. Just how unrealistic is this.
For those of us who stay and endure, hey we do it out of necessity understandably, but damn it sure is a bitch isnt it

Yeah, I never really agreed with how "raises" were doled out. The person reviewing you most likely hasn't seen you consistently enough to truly judge your work because of how many TLs we go through. It all comes down to if the reviewer liked you that day or not.
