I think it’s safe to say Target has sunk to a new low. Everyday they seem to become worse and worse. I feel sorry for the mother and the family. No one deserves to go through with something like this. No parent deserves to lose their child let alone their only child. I wish the mother good luck with her lawsuit. Maybe this will shine a light on how horrible it is to work for Target to the public. Rot in hell Target!

Target makes me sick. While I continue to survive my depression from the abuse I suffered at Target. Abuse Target refused to investigate, and chose to punish me for reporting.
My heart goes out for anyone who falls to despair, and the family who survive such acts. From my personal knowledge Target hand picks the worst sort of people for their TL, ETL, and upper Management. On top of that Target attacks anyone who speaks up for themselves, and refuses to take any responsibility for their lack of empathy, understanding, or even basic human feelings. Damn I am so angry ATM I can't even think to finish this thought.

A lot of people are saying this is going too far on her part. I must say based on what I've read on this site and my personal experience with my own store, it's not out of the question he was severely mistreated. Many of the people shopping there honestly don't even think the employees are mistreated the way they really are, most likely because they'd rather bury their heads in the sand AND because they don't care. I hope this poor soul rests in peace and that his mother finds justice in the court system. As time goes by, Tarshit will lose its good standing rep it falsely has with its shoppers.
Target most definitely has a corporate culture of humiliating and berating their employees on the floor in plain view of guests (customers) and fellow team members. Our young people are trying to find their way in life, and during this journey often work retail jobs along the way. They don't deserve to be humiliated just because Target (retailers in general) assume they can't or won't do anything about it. I feel for this mother as my 18-year old daughter had a similar humiliation as a Target employee in Canada. I hope this lady wins. Target culture is for sure to blame. Obviously something is more at play here but this would have been a significant traumatic event that could catapult a vulnerable young person to do the unthinkable. Shame on you Target - your employees are people not units. Costco would never have done this!
For those that care to read on, my daughter lined up in -10 deg C two hours before the store opened along with many other guests to purchase a PS4 game console that was in demand. She was given a ticket to purchase the game console. They overlooked the coworker/friend she arrived with and accidentally gave his ticket to the next person chirping in line. But they announced each ticket holder was entitled to purchase 2 game consoles, which they again confirmed at the counter at the time of purchase. My daughter was there as a guest that morning, not an employee. She was not working that day. After purchase another guest complained she would not get a game console so my daughter was stopped by the ETL HR and told that she had to refund her game console so the complaining guest could have it. She said no. At this point she was not allowed to leave the store and was berated to the point in public that she had to quit so she could leave. She was separated from her friend and surrounded by 3 ETLs and a TL for over 30 minutes while the ETL pressured and berated her. The issue is now before the Human Rights Tribunal Ontario for a hearing. Target has since announced its retreat from Canada leaving 17,600 people unemployed. Most won't see any severance. This hearing will never take place since Target is now sheltered under insolvency legislation. They had to pay thousands in legal fees to address our complaint when all my daughter wanted was her lost wages for the remainder of her scheduled shifts. They also lost 5+ billion in their Canada operations. I hope this poor mother wins big.
WOW Fuck that shit! Your daughter earned that ticket fair and square. That bitching guest should've been told to suck it up and wait 'til next time. Tarshit sucks as a company overall, seriously. I'm glad to be out of there and so should your daughter. I hope your daughter gets justice against this shady company and that this company gets more bad press because of it. It seems Tarshit is becoming the new Target for bad press these days, and it's not such a bad thing in my book...... People will see this company for what it is: a big box store with nothing good in store for its shoppers OR its employees.
the manager could have asked nicely and mentioned that could she give up her console and allow target to sell it to the complaining customer and she could get it the next time they had some consoles in stock.
I understand. When I was employed with this damn company I had to be medicated just so I could go to work. Doc put me on anti-depressants. I also can vouch for the bully mentality of the ETL's. Team members calling in sick and they would use the schedule to punish them for it. Not give enough hours or schedule them back to back to back close open shifts that we all know make you fill like shit cause you sleeping pattern has be fuck all to hell.
They will never see another dollar of mine. I even hate red now.
