It’s like High School.
I’ve spent a year working at target. Everything was fine at first, and everyone and everything seemed okay. Up until mid november or so.. We had 3 people in electronics quit at once, and there were only two people working that entire week total. Some days we didn’t have openers, and some days we didn’t have closers, and sometimes both. So, one day I’m coming into work, and there are 5 huge pulls that haven’t been worked, the entire electronics area is a disaster, and zone is an absolute mess.
So, lets keep in mind that this is in ELECTRONICS in NOVEMBER a WEEK before black friday… So, needless to say it’s absolutely insane and there are crazy amounts of guests asking tons of questions at all times. there is one Senior Team Lead (who is not my TL, and does not work in the same area as i do) who ABSOLUTELY has it out to get me fired, she hovers around electronics to try and catch me doing/saying something wrong. I start to try and chip out what I can of this work, the phone rings, I answer, and try to help the guest on the phone.. (And guess who is hovering around the area!) then Target Mobile asks me to let him into the backroom, I tell the guest on the phone I’ll look for what they were asking for, just one second.. so I tell target mobile “I’ll let you back there in a second”. I whip out my PDA and start to search this particular item for the guest on the phone. Another call comes through for Toys, so i ask someone to help me out. This manager flies between the isle, stares right at me, and tells me to answer the phone myself since I wasn’t busy. I blew it off, because one of my friends had answered it for me.
So, I then carried on with my day as if nothing happened. Later in the day, right before i was about to leave, i was called into the TL office. They asked me to close the door. Long story short, they told me I wasn’t getting any work done, I needed to work harder, I need to stop asking for help, and if I wasn’t able to do that, i would be found a new position in the store. I stood up for myself and said “I believe i am working hard, and I am putting in as much effort as I possibly can.”
(a few months prior we had gotten the Red Ipod PDA’s) A few days after that incident, that same manager called me into the TL office again, and told me “Its easier if you just tell me the truth.” & claimed that I was “using my cell phone while on the floor”. Then threatened to pull the footage of me. Aside from constantly hovering around my area, to actually trying to tell me what to do when I had ZERO free time. I immediatly went to my STL and claimed harassment on her, no action was taken (of course right?)
I’m a fairly laid back person, black friday was easy to get through, i can deal with guests calling me all sorts of hurtful names and whatnot, but my final straw was review day. Amongst the confusion and horrible communication between the LOD’s and TL’s I had NO idea who was even supposed to give me my review. My original TL got fired around November, we had another person take over, they left, then we had a new TL about 5 weeks before reviews.
My review was the following:
“You work well with guests and provide excellent guest service, you exceed our sales expectations and excel greatly at knowing products, however you do not use your time wisely and you are not very good at time management. You effort here is far from what we expect.” There was also a nice little added segment at the end about all of the stuff that I had been reported for by that one particular manager, and it was brought up again in this review.
After that, they started trying to drill into my personal life, and my friends personal life as well, asking me questions about what had happened between him and his girlfriend. Why this one girl kept coming over to electronics to talk to me (so she could cover my breaks, actually). So, I told them I came here to work, not to gossip on other people, this is not high school.
It was at that exact moment that I told them “This is my two week notice” clocked out, went home, came back for the rest of my shifts, and sat on my cell phone for the rest of my whole 4 shifts they put me on and didn’t do anything. When i was talked to several times that week I told them i’m just doing exactly what you said i do in the reviews, nothing.

Right!! Nothing worse than when all the "cool" kids AKA... Management all take their lunch at the same time.
The best is, they all claim to be "stressed out" when all they seem to be doing is sitting back in the TL office's talking about what they're getting for dinner.
What you went through was bs and let me tell you target is a creepy place to work you are watched by Co workers and supervisors like stalkers and every angle of you is being filmed and watched everyday.
