Hysterical….
Hours have dropped off to between 20 and 26 per week, despite my glowing review, endless redcards each day, etc. So when I heard they needed folks fro the satrday overnight signing I said sure, train me. It’ll be a solid 8.5 hours a week I can pad with cashier hours.
So what’s my first scheduled siging week? 17 hours. Hired full time.
More hystericalness: “We ned you to get redcards but there’s no pressure. Now – about those redcards!”
I keep reminding myself I’m only here for the healthplan.

The health plan sucks at the shits eye, gotta spend 5-6k out of pocket each year before they kick in to help.
Fuck that better off to work lowes or depot.
A coworker of mine actually broke his jaw and had to have it wired into place, yet still came to work because he couldn't afford to miss his shifts. It really is a sad/maddening state of affairs.
yea, that's target, full time is part time and part time is 12 or less hours.
My hours are currently less than fifty in a month. Remember when people survived off of 40 a week? Yeah. Don't stick around for the stupid healthcare plan. Dumb corporations like Target are going nutty right now over Obama's proposed healthcare, so they cut down hours to nothing. Target told me I'd get healthcare only if I worked enough hours. Get it?
Meanwhile people are getting fulltime and payed higher wages for sitting on their asses answering phone calls about morons unplugging their ethernet cables. Soon I really hope the hundreds of people I've been applying at and the scores of interviews I've had leads to something. Long process, but hopefully no more Target.
My hours were recently cut in half and they have job postings for 3 people in my work area.
They would rather have 4 people work 40 hours than one.
One of the TL's at my store in on food stamps! That's how bad it can get.
ya 90% of retail workers at walmart, target, etc are on food stamps.
Same thing to me. Hired full time, 35+ hours it says right on the contract we sign when hired. Nope, only get 15 to 25 usually. What a bunch of bull crap. Target keeps hiring more people all the time, all year. Hmm, yeah, more employees means Target can't give that many hours because they'd be losing more money and have less money for more items and electricity bills and employees all together. Target doesn't think about the people, the CEO and the executive staff are only thinking of how can we keep this going so we remain rich and the business keeps bringing in money, let's hire more so we look like we're helping. But they're not because no one is getting full time hours anymore.
^ Exactly! What everyone keeps saying about hiring more people on. Their excuse is " we're not ahead on sales, so we have to cut back on hours 🙁 " But they could easily just STOP hiring more and more people every two weeks to cover the people that wisen up and just quit. Then just bloody give us the extra time. Same hours. It's all just a scheme to avoid healthcare.
My store hasn't made sales in the last month. We are last in Red Card conversion and second to last in total sales in our district...
They claim this is the reason my hours are now cut in half but when I looked at the job posting board they are hiring 29 NEW REGULAR employees! 9 of those new hires are in work areas that I am in.
The way it works out is they would rather have 4 people work a total of 40 hours then one person work those 40 and get benefits and, I don't know, not be homeless by the end of the month.
They claim they need a certain number in each area. That's why target doesn't want unions if they had them shit like this wouldn't happen. Also like you said its to avoid giving benefits to anyone besides the target lifers
ok I'm curious. How many lanes does target have open normally on weekends?
We usually have between 3-5 during the day and just 2 after 10pm.
The GSTL has to call backup every 10 minutes or so and if there is a rush you can be up in backup for a good 30 minutes.
wow target really expects customers to pay more for less service. *shakes head* Nope, not gonna set foot in a target ever.
This happened at the one I worked at all the time. Most of the time its because cashiers would walk out or quit. Heard a week or so 3 cashiers all called in and quit on the same day.
