Hardlines/Salesfloor Overworked

I have been with this company for about 4-5 years. This was a great job  till “MODERNZATION” came into play.  This is my list of what I do on a daily basis:

1.Push Merchandise from truck, autofills

5. Phone Operator

6. Planogram (Sales Plan)

7.Price Change (different Day)

Theres more but im tired, but anyways I work in  Toys and Sporting goods by myself and then they expect me to get all this done within 4-5 hours! 100 %  audit and then they have the nerve DEMAND that I  stay past my scheduled shift, im not gonna injure myself cause of manage wants me to be like Sonic the Fucking Hedgehog.

Lol at Sonic the hedgehog. That sounds like Tarshit they want everyone to do things quickly but don’t think about the consequences of doing so.

Overworked does not even begin to describe it. They don't even attempt to fill the call offs anymore. On so many occasions it's just me on the floor. The store looks worse than the aftermath of Hurricane Michael. Team members are more or less just giving up. And I don't blame them. There is a BIG difference between expecting a lot and expecting the impossible.

Supposedly they tested modernization before implementing it and said it can work. I don't necessarily disagree that under some circumstances maybe it can. If every single team member is doing their best and pushing themselves hard as they can, if nobody calls off, if PAYROLL wasn't cut every.single.week. to the bare bones. Then YES it CAN in theory but more often than not it doesn't work.

Targets biggest issue as a company is that they have champagne taste on a beer budget. They want the best hardest working flexible people who are capable of a wide variety of things...but they don't want to pay for it. They want to give you the absolute bare minimum and then TAKE from that and expect you to complete your tasks with what's left. And you can sit there and preach all you want about how wonderful it is that they'll be paying a living wage and offer benefits but so what? $15 an hour doesn't mean shit when payroll is consistently slashed every single week.

But they offer benefits! Yeah sure they are AVAILABLE but it's not as if you can actually get them. Almost no team members qualify because you need to average 30 hours a week. Who cares if they offer something if nobody can have it? Please.

    But that's retail!
Um No. It's not. Not really. That's a cop out the leadership all use because it's easier than actually accepting responsibility for the shitty way their company is telling them to do things. I'm not saying companies have it easy especially with competitors like Amazon, eBay, even fresh grocery delivery services. But there ARE retail businesses that ARENT cutting hours to bare bones on a regular basis who still pay their employees a living wage and don't have a revolving door of unhappy workers.

Can we all just face the fact it was a thinly veiled move to reduce labor costs because of greed? It's not as if the people at the top are going to take a pay cut. If the wages are raised they'll just make changes so that they have less staff and their massive profits don't take a hit from the higher cost of payroll. THATS why these changes came. And if you believe anything else you'd be very naive.

15$ an hour doesn't mean shit if you only get 10-15 hours a week either. getting hours at Targey is like pulling teeth. then again I work in Electronics, if I had to deal with disorganized laptops crammed in a cabinet, the custys (fuck 'guests') the stupid fast service button that's designed to make you drop everything and sprint when you hear it, on hand counts all out of whack months after the holidays still, and our stupid 3rd party system for activating fucking phones, for 40 hours a week, I'd probably have a mental breakdown.

I could've wrote the exact same, I'm pretty sure I have literally bitched word for word about this new modernization shit that doesn't work. I was coached and told I'm not productive enough because I can't get push done in multiple departments each day, on top of everything else they're requiring us to get through. I've worked my ass off for the last 4.5 years. I felt like part of a team before all the changes and now I feel like a worthless number. I've never had a job break me, but this is pushing me to that point.

Target is rich, so why not give everyone there 40 hours or 20 hours for half time. They could afford it, people shop there every damn day!!! They could afford to pay over $10 million dollars every 2 weeks, but do they do, oh we need to hire an HR to decide hours for our workers so that we executives and CEO can still be rich. Target is not a business, it's more of a failure of a business, because real businesses hire full time!!!!!
