Target Sucks - We Hate Target and We Know We're Not Alone.

Bait

Had my first cartwheel experience.

Advertised price 20% off.  I scanned and my items were not sale price.  I asked and was told the sign says you must use the app.

Wrong, sign says message and data rates apply.  Sign topper says cartwheel.

Signs do not say you must download an app, then have the Target store scan a bar code on your phone.  Just another way to steal your personal information and false advertisement.  I refuse to purchase anything from Target again.  I will shop at CVS, Walmart, Rite Aid but not Target.  The excuses I was told make no sense.  Target, you screwed up.

I definitely think you have a point about the way those deals are advertised. Personally I think with deals such as those it would be much easier to just put the items on sale. Or at the very least we should have some sort of backup barcode for the major deals for various reasons. Too many times do cashiers just use their own app to save everyone in line the hassle and that's just ridiculous. If for example you don't have a smartphone or you rarely shop at Target you aren't going to know what Cartwheel is you'd just assume it's on sale. It's definitely misleading.

I know exactly what signs you're describing and the reason it doesn't say anything about downloading an app is because those are the ones the store printed themselves. When headquarters sends a batch of cartwheel signs they should definitely change the verbage because it isnt clear. It just says message and data rates apply it doesn't explain anything about Cartwheel, what it is, or how to use it. I don't know if I agree on the stealing information part but I will say I'm leery about putting any payment into the "Target wallet". Anybody who hacks my target.com account then could theoretically load it into their phone. They could even see if I had an employee discount number. It doesn't seem that secure.

At the Target I used to work at, they told me that I could not use my cartwheel for someone's sale. I got into trouble for helping the customer save a little bit of money. I had to change my way of doing things. That did not make the customer happy. I had to do it their way. Sometimes the customer doesn't like that.
