8 years… 8 god damn years down the tubes at this horrible company. I’ve seen well managed teams go to total shit, because this company as a whole wanted to do nothing but take shortcuts. They punish loyalty and reward ignorance.

Honest question, if you paid anyone who got a red card (insert dollar amount…$25?) wouldn’t most of this red card bullshit go away? I don’t know how to run a business, but wouldn’t everyone basically win with a deal like that?

About 8 years ago I started working at Target and went back to school, because I wanted to be an ETL. Yeah, I wasn’t aiming too high in life, so let me explain where I was coming from when I made that decision. I was on my last few years of my Army contract when I started working at Target. The Army can be a bit stressful at times believe it or not 😛 Yeah, backstocking a truck for 8 hours per day isn’t mentally stimulating and I know I could have done better, but it was stable and the easiest job ever. It was just nice to have an easy, laid back job. No getting rained on, no dumbass officers to deal with, and no deployments. Not paradise, but not bad either. I live a modest lifestyle and figured if I can get by just fine working here then why not go for ETL, so I could afford to do stuff like buy a nice house in a quiet neighborhood and have kids. Strike one happened when I found out that a college degree is required and the worst part is they don’t care what degree you get. It’s supposed to show dedication and commitment, but apparently military service isn’t good enough.

I saw this post from a comment made by Targetgrunt and thought I’d re-post it.

This site shouldn’t have to exist, but we’re all here and disgruntled for a reason. Some of us have really busted our asses for this company, sticking things out when they were tough, only to be betrayed with low wages and slave driving leadership who got there by being pretty and/or kissing ass. I knew things were bad, but didn’t realize to the extent that this company is going down the shitter. Time to bail out. Let these idiots crash and burn!

For those of us who have been here for about 6 years or so, let me take you back to the good old days. I remember when I first started working FLOW before I moved to backroom. Most people in my store had been there a few years before me and overall loved their job as did I. After the truck was pushed, I noticed backroom was a mess and asked to stay and help out. Back then the backroom was a mess, because no one wanted to do the job.
