Why
Does the individual store benefit from people signing up for a red card?
I say that to say this, tonight the closing L.O.D got pissed off because we only got 1 red card. LOL.
Someone said, Hey one is better than zero and the LOD replied, no 1 is even worst, we are dead last in the district for red card conversation, one of the newer stores is doing better than us and we are close to the shopping mall and airport that should never happen.
So I ask, what do the individual stores get from corporate if anything from people signing up for the red card?

Management bonuses and incentives are the only reasons they care. The desired benefit is that customers will be more likely to shop there if they have a credit card that only works at that store. That's why that type of card exists.
When it comes to the credit cards, Target gets a kickback from VISA for every new line of credit opened. They also make a ton of money off the 22.90% interest rate because consumers with loyalty cards tend to spend more. There's also incentives for the STL if their respective store meets or exceeds their conversion goal. And of course, people (in the states at least) are getting progressively worse at debt management (thanks in part to wage stagnation and under-employment), so these cards are basically an endless supply of profit.
Oddly enough though, my store has stopped tracking conversion (a term I've always found odd) due to the scandal. Doubt that'll last very long, though.
yea, we was told until further notice, dont ask guest who come in the line about the red cards
lol do they get a kickback if I use a target rbc mastercard? Seriously I'm tempted to get one before heading down to seattle, and into a target, pull out the rbc red target card when asked about a red card, just to see their faces, and convert it to a more useful card when i get back home. If I wanted to I could make target pay for my conversion forex rate though their 5% discount on the red card. I'd only get 2.5% off my purchase since the other 2.5% would be eaten up in forex fees.
I a not a cashier at my store but I heard they started writing people up for not getting any during their shift.
Everything done at the store is to benefit the useless management types. The more red cards they get the store manager and LODS get a bonus, the more stores the meet there quota the regional manager get a bonus so on and so on. The same is with Hours if the store comes under hours projections but keeps sales they all get bonuses. what do the employees who are slaving get? a 1-5 CENT raise every year
The management get post-4th quarter bonuses for leading the district in Red Card conversion. The bonuses are on a 4-tier scale for stores that rank. That's the only reason they care. But you won't see a "team lead", ETL, or LOD back-up cashiering to get those Red Cards themselves.
No...instead, you are expected to be the mind-reading miracle worker who can telepathically convince "guests" to sign up for a Red Card with fuck-me-in-the-ass interest rates of 29%.
Fuck the Red Card. In the 5 years I worked for Target, I got 2 Red Cards...and they were both by accident; it was just guests who came in already planning on getting one. Hence why they never made me cashier; it was quite obvious that I gave zero fucks. So that's my suggestion: give zero fucks.
xd some folks open one for the sake of building a credit history because td has access to credit history on both sides of the border.
lol Canadians have to apply via td directly because td needs to do some digging for a credit history.
question! can you literally pay a target credit card with an overseas cheque ( personal cheque) at the till? or with cad/usd
