Very child-like mentality
I read posts from former employees and it is amazing how different people from different stores have the same unpleasant experiences working at Target and my experiences are no different from anyone else. I was hired as a seasonal employee even though I applied for a full time regular employee position in their website. I was on food stamps before I was hired, I am pretty sure that was their main reason to hire me. Two days after filling out the application, I got a call for a interview. I knew something was not right when during the phone conversation, I stated I was excited and the person that called me said to me “good for you”. The hell?? Never been told that before. So I was interviewed, they were impressed with my experience and knowledge in home audio and video games. Like every post I read, I was treated well initially then within a months time, supervisors were getting on my case on procedures I was not trained or told about. One had the nerve to criticize me for not asking for help. I ignored most of the crap, I observed how the supervisors walk around the store virtually do very little. Just like most of the employees, when I used the two way radio, they claimed “they didn’t hear me” every time I called for back up in the electronics department. I couldn’t believe they scheduled me to work by myself during the holidays. No matter how polite I was, customers were getting mad at the wait, didn’t blame them. On a busy Saturday, they had me take tests on food handling instead of having me on the sales floor selling. Twenty five years of retail experience, I never seen such a hypocritical unprofessional supervisors in a store and that list includes Best Buy and Circuit City. I even had a L.O.D. as they call it call me “boy”. I simply stated I am more than a mere boy and his mind could not even begin comprehend of the type of person I am. He looked at me funny and said “I forgot who I was talking to”. Another employee had the nerve to tell one of them L.O.D’s I was not removing inventory properly from the back room. I predict Target will be in financial trouble in the nexy five years if not sooner.
I forgot to mention that on the last Sunday before Christmas, I worked to cover a co-workers shift. I worked over 12 hours, I was tired, the assistant manager bought pizza for the employees, I sat down, I ate and rested to gain some energy. I was yelled at by one of the L.O.D.s for eating telling me I don’t deserve another break. Interesting enough 3 days later I had to sign something like a write up for not clocking out for lunch. When I stated I was yelled at for taking a break, she was protecting the person in charge that night. I told her this place is like romper room. Like I said, at the rate Target treats employees has become a follower instead of a leader of retail, Target will find itself in financial trouble,

At my store the only LODS that treated you like a person and appreciated you found new jobs and have left. Now it's like High School, you ask questions about your hours you get them cut. You call out no matter if it's a emergency, your hours get cut because to the clique, you are a problem unless you kiss ass or worse. Fuck Target
That's how the company operates. A chick that I worked with was allowed to have blue hair, knew nothing about electronics and has a rude deposition towards other employees and and certain "guests". American retail companies have become a joke and Target will eventually become a Target of another failed business.
And that is how the company operates. At the store I worked at, a chick was allowed to have blue hair and she had the most rude disposition towards employees and certain customers. But because she kissed the right ass, she had more hours than me and knew shit about electronics. Unfortunately, it is the way American companies are ran today and that is why most of them wont be around much longer. Target days are numbered just as Sears, Best Buy, J.C. Penney and Radio Shack. Wall Mart is also about to fall.
I think what is going to be a major factor in the demise of Target is the poor choices being made in the direction of the company.
When you are salvaging incredible amounts of clearance items, being talked about as an epic fail in an insane partnership and focusing on being "green" instead of the guests in addition to constantly hounding the shoppers for a Red Card -- you are building yourself for failure.
The problem with Target is it's trying so hard to be cool, hip and vibing in a society where customers are aging.
That's part of the problem but when a company has morale issues across the board and marketing strategies that are not working is normally a sign of the beginning of the end. Circuit City is a prime example of that.
Fuck Target, my former STL that ass-kissing bitch, some of the ETL's fucking dirty skanks, their fuckheads and are lucky that I don't own a shotgun.
All these companys will eventually fall. I am surprised no one disgruntle has done anything yet but trust me when I say it's not worth it. It broke my heart to see 2 women that worked their butts off for the holidays to remain with the company were let go. The mentality of target is the mentality of most companies.
