Target is run by morons
This is my first post so I have a lot of steam to let off.
I have worked at Target for almost 7 years and it has gotten worse and worse every single year. This Vibe shit is just some petty attempt to make Target stand out from other retailers. They’re trying to force moments for “guests” (I didn’t invite them) which I think cheapens everything. The same goes for all these stupid team cards that they’ve all but made mandatory. I work logistics and another stupid idea they’ve implemented at my store is a later truck unload. This means the flow team is working out the entire truck when the store is open, and I mean the entire truck. Every piece goes to the floor. The so called idea is for flow team to double as sales floor. Of course when the execs do everything in their power to get the flow team out by 10:30 a.m. ( we open at 8) it kind of defeats the purpose. The pallets and flats the flow team works off of pretty much blocks half the aisles which blocks people from getting to any merchandise. This also has the added bonus of cutting sales floor people’s hours and fucks them over. Whoever came up with this idea has never worked at or shopped at a Target in his/her life. This cutting payroll because of sales thing is bullshit too. Less payroll means less people to put product out and/or help “guests” find products which means less sales. Its just a cycle of stupidity. The only thing my execs care about is making payroll so they can get their end of year bonus. The one thing that probably would increase sales at my store is a re-model to put in a pharmacy but they won’t do it because our sales are low. Half my job when I’m on the sales floor is to tell people we don’t have a pharmacy. Don’t know how much more of this I can take.

Gregg Steinhafel's gotta have his $19M compensation package*, ya know? Can't afford to have the stores stocked properly, give people livable hours/wages, execute processes efficiently or any of that. Every retailer is all about the bottom line, but Target is definitely one of the shittier companies when it comes to employee treatment.

It's not that hard to run a retail store, pay employees a "fair" or "living wage," and still turn a profit.
Just look at Costco!
Average starting salary is around $11/hour. After that, it can get as high as $21/hour. And that is for non-supervisorary positions!
At Target, with my current raise projections, it would take me between 8-14 years to make $11/hour (given the minimum wage does not increase). I got a 7 cent raise at the time of my review after 5 months on the job and was meeting expectations.
