Cashier Anxiety
I have been working as a cashier for about 7 months now. I am getting anxiety and mental health issues. Some of my coworkers are rude and bossy with me. Some are amazing and sweet and make Target a great place to work. But really co workers is not the real problem. The real problem is the horrible guests with nightmare attitudes. So many of them are condescending and picky. They are quick to anger if you accidentally don’t bag something there way or goodness forbid there card declines and it is somehow my fault.
Then the people who forget there is a pin for red cards and argue with me that they never had to use a pin for there red card before. I could go on 🙁

Honestly you just have to take it for what it is their is always going to be those customers. I've learned that when I don't hesitate to tell people bad news and just tell them matter of factly of that is how it is and say it with confidence they argue less about it.
I also know trust no one that you work with. Even if you think they are sweet they still got a mouth and a greedy heart if they can point out your faults then it makes them exalted. When I first started I was nice to everyone and tried to be friends with everyone the best of my ability. It back fired on me because all they did behind my back was talk shit about me and point out my faults.
lol smother them in kindness.
Customers being bitchy about how you bag their stuff is probably why walmart has moved onto making people bag their own shit.
I love that, target and many other places should adopt it as well.
I think in cashiering you are so busy with guests that there is little involvement with coworkers... at least what ive seen briefly in my store...the cashiers for the most part are more mature,, the SL area is another story.. ive found it filled with young lowclass catty women and there is always has been backstabbing and cattiness abound...it is more toxic than my junior high of many years ago... ive always under the impression that Walmart was the worst place on the planet to work but that was until I took a job on a whim at Target....my advice don't talk shop with anybody...make your money and get the hell out there as soon as you can...
I agree completely with this. SL is the absolute worst spot in the store if you are looking for kind coworkers. When I used to work at Target, that was the one spot I would avoid at all costs. Everyone over there was a kiss-ass and they were all very good friends with the store lead because of it. If they caught anyone doing anything even remotely questionable they would report it and use it for their own game. Not to mention the meltdowns when people couldn't get to the phone fast enough for their standard.
ah yes the idiots who claim they don't have a pin for their card. Uh you have to set a pin to activate and use the card dummy. >_> people are idiots.
