Target Sucks - We Hate Target and We Know We're Not Alone.

You have just entered the Twilight Zone…

Holy cow! With every shift i am more and more shocked by the shear lack of leadership, and mismanagement of this company. I made the mistake of verbally stateing my displeasure with policies (pushing redcards/surveys) the other day in the breakroom to a fellow team member. As luck would have it the conversation was over heard by HR. Today i needed to have a chat about “how things are going”. What a complete waste of time. Bottom line if people (me) can’t pay their basic living expenses then no… I’m Not going to be happy to come to work and have to deal with rude, entitled guests all day. This seems pretty common sense to me. I have never worked so hard, been so exhausted and had so little to show for it. Target wants their employees to happy, bubbly and general all around great representatives but aren’t willing to pay a fair living wage. Then everything is positioned as a “reward” like getting hours, being cross trained. These people are so far off the mark isn’t not even funny.

I was coached for not getting enough red cards the other day, the cashiering part is fine but I detest pushing cards on people everytime i check someone out due to the unrealistic expectations of target, places push cards but target having the high weekly goals and stressing the managers who stress the cashiers ruins the job which would otherwise be fine other than the low pay and is a pain for the customers who have to ward off card pushers everytime they checkout. You should hear my LOD push a card at the register behind me, words coming out a mile a minute extremely bubbly I actually let out a low groan Lol.

Fuck the red card. When I was still there I barely asked a soul unless a supervisor was in earshot and even then not always (hey they might have one anyways lol). Do not fall for the "satisfaction" discussions as far as "are you happy here? Any comments?" questions go. Give them nothing. Telling the truth only gives them reason to hate you and to talk shit about you. They don't actually care if you like the job or not. Why would they right?

the only problem with not asking enough unless the LOD is around is that you get coached if you don't get any. when the other cashiers get them and you don't the LOD will say it's not because the guests don't want them etc. you have to at least give an hour per shift where you push it to everyone so you have a good shot. i hate the red card i understand but i see what i can get away with, turned a decent job into a headache due to unrealistic weekly goals.

Hmm never had to get THIS many at my store. Many people had coachings at my store on a weekly basis. The only way I ever got red card sign ups despite asking people when I did was a result of them asking me randomly to sign up for the red card.

Seriously it is the MOST ridiculous thing ever. If it were truly about saving the guest money than the redcards should be in the TV commercials and the flyers.. They aren't they expect the cashiers to be the 1st line of defense in attacking the guest with this great offer.
It's total BS. Here's the deal there is no loyalty on behalf of the shoppers.
They are ONLY there because something is on sale. That is not loyalty that is necessatey. They are rude & entitled and have high expectations of customer service...guesss what for 8.75/hour they need to lower their expectations they can't expect to be consistently treated better then team members are.

Something I'll never get about low wage jobs is the absurd expectations management has for their workers. Tarshit management in many ways just tops the icing in comparison to other places. It's depressing how hard it is to live on a near minimum wage paycheck.
