Target is a fucked up corporation!
I have been working for target for almost 3 Years. I started out in flow, moved to backroom, and for the last year and a 1/2 I’ve been working under the title of Space Management. For the entire duration of my time at Target I have worked tirelessly to show my bosses and peers that I’m ready for more responsibility ( hence the reason I’ve been moved drastically to better positions in rapid succession). I’ve put in for three open management positions and all three times I was not even interviewed. My supervisors assured me that it was not that I have been overlooked, but that’s some bullshit. At Target they already know who they want to hire for any given position. They don’t conduct proper interviews nor give people who have earned the chance to excel a proper opportunity. Recently I was interviewed for a position I wanted. Little did I know they already knew who they were going to hire and basically interviewed me just to take the heat off their own asses. They announced at the huddle the next day who the team lead was that they hired. My manager knowingly conducted an interview with the knowledge that the position was already filled and that my hopes were high for the available position. When confronted about this hope shattering event he said and I quote, ” Target deemed the information on the new hire for the position you interviewed for confidential. I could get in a lot of trouble for telling you that information. I was not allowed to share it.” My boss continued to explain in a flurry of what could only be translated as nullification and containment of the situation from further expanding. He told me I was on the “pipeline” for becoming a team lead and that they would have to see how I do through this current fourth quarter. I’m a lap dog. All they want me to do is bust my ass in a cyclical self destructive way just they don’t have to hire some shit brained little fucker who won’t do my job 1/4th as efficiently. So my friends the moral of the story is, don’t work hard for Target. If you fuck off every shift, talk and text on your phone, bullshit with your peers, and brown nose your bosses, you’ll be a team lead in no time!

I work hard as well. Always doing what they want as the "business standard of doing what the business wants done." But really, even if I take a break 5 minutes more or go to the bathroom when I have to go really bad, the stupid TL bitch is like, where did you go, you weren't on time, you disapeared, you didn't ask for the red card. I always get in trouble and for what? I didn't do shit. All the other cashiers take an extra 5 to 10 minutes to come back from there breaks, so why can't I? You don't yell at them yet you yell at me? WTF? So really, if I slack off even for one minute they fuck me over and say you're not working hard enough. Like seriously? I'm not a noob, I've been there 5 years, WTF? I know what I'm doing, I help people continuously, can't I have some god damn freedom and peace time to get away from that?
