I’m not getting paid to do that.
I started work in November 2017 in Food Ave, our store had a Starbucks and Pizza Hut Express in it. I had 5 years of previous experience working in fast food and deli jobs, so this was really easy work to me. I was always told I was doing a really good job and my ETL gave me lots of free frapps or whatever for nothing really. In March 2018 they offered me a promotion to work as a Food Assistant, which I happily signed and started training. I was trained on hardlines, cull, adscense, ordering, almost everything. The only thing I needed to finish training was Starbucks barista certification.
But then the LOD who directly oversaw the food and bev departments was fired.
…okay. They put off finishing my training. I happen to have 2 jobs, so I told them alright, I’m going to cut down my hours so I can put more into my freelance work until you guys have your shit together. It all seemed fine. Soon after the pee hut started having problems keeping workers, people would get hired and work for 2 weeks and quit over something really dumb. It’s not a hard job or anything, and the guests aren’t even that bad, so I don’t know why so many people can’t handle it. A few months go by and I start asking about getting barista certified so I can finish being promoted (mind you guys, I have been doing all the other work of FA that I have been trained for until this point, but haven’t had any pay raise excluding the 17c annual raise). They said that phut is too understaffed for them to promote me yet.
Few more months, they haven’t even tried hiring any new people. Still won’t promote me.
Few more months yet, and I’m like guys I can work full time if you finish training me because I wouldn’t have to work so much of my other job. “We’ll see, I’ll talk to HR.” Nothing.
Last week they took someone in cosmetics and gave her the job as FA.
I didn’t take care of any of the orders this week. Time for some malicious compliance.
