Target Sucks - We Hate Target and We Know We're Not Alone.

November 20, 2015 - Lily

If you have any sense of pride, RUN!

I’ve only worked for target for about 5 months. At first I was excited because even if it was part time it was something that could pad my schedule after being a stay at home spouse for years.

Now maybe my store has become accustomed to eager beavers who’ll damn near drive themselves crazy for a pat on the head and a congrats over the walkie but I refuse to feel any sort of disappointment if I do not get a redcard for the store. I just don’t give a shit. I do my job. I do it well. I never call out and pick up extra shifts when needed. I am always kind and helpful when bothered with customers who refuse to use common sense. Therefore, I am utterly disgusted with the hoopla surrounding Redcards. The GSTL will literally try to guilt you. “Everyone else has gotten one today, why haven’t you” she says. Because the incentives suck that’s why. Offering a free drink at Starbucks is not a proper incentive. I’m a grown ass woman, not some recent highschool grad. If I want an overpriced coffee I’ll buy it myself. How about an extended break or even better a shift in hardlines without being called for backup every 15 friggin minutes. Now that’s an incentive. Until then I see no point in harrasing some lady buying eggs into also signing up for a credit card she doesn’t need.

My next issue with Target is clocking in for a closing shift and being assigned to an area of the store that looks like all hell broke loose. Which is fine because shit happens. But what TLs need to understand is that if I’m just now coming in and my area is a disaster zone, its going to take more than 30 mins to zone. On top of running up for back up and helping customers TMs are busy too. So please refrain from riding my ass repeatedly. If it’s such an issue come over and help or go up for backup while I catch up on what wasn’t done before I arrived. Coaching me won’t motivate me. It’ll actually make me activate “fuck it” mode and do just enough to keep my sanity until clocking out.

Oh and target customers with their cartwheel, and their coupons, watching the checkout screen like a hawk to make sure an item rings up as 7.00 instead of 7.50, have truly made me hate retail. I am not a price checker. I am not in charge of which coupons work for an item. I literally scan shit as fast as possible, make kind conversation and bid you a good night once it’s over. That’s it!

Finally, someone who thinks exactly like I do! Red cards are crap, 24% interest on them makes them crap for people anyway. And oh my fucking shut, people be looking like a god damn frakinstien at the monitor, and they always like but that's not the right price, hello, yes it is, the computer says so, no no but it said cheaper back there. DUH DUH DUH, that's because you got it when it was in the wrong spot!!!! Just because it said only 4.99 doesn't mean it is, it said 4,99 soap, not this can of coffee. People be fucking losing it at target. Walmart is way better, but hell I never ever get a call back from applying there, wonder why. If people recognize, items can be cheap even if 49.99 to 200 because cars are expensive as shit and the insurance, that's why I never drived, to save money!!! LOTS OF MONEY! Waste 10,000 on a car or more plus the montly insurance and monthly payments for the car? HELL NO! SAVE MONEY, LIVE BETTER, WALMART has the right idea!

hmm, is there any way they can pay it off instantly at the till after they signed up for it? I know Sears allowed it and zellers which target bought the leases from allowed it as well.

oh we don't take personal cheques but if you sign up for this card we'll let you pay your bill off instantly with a cheque. Or oh you don't want to remember to pay your bill? Oh we'll take the card payment then apply your cash payment against your bill instantly. It increased the sign ups a lot lol. I have no idea if this is true but apparently someone reported while target was up here, walmart allowed people to pay their walmart card off instantly with another credit card.
