“I KNOW YOU’RE SICK BUT WE NEED THE HELP” ?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After reading other stories, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one.
With that being said, let me tell you about the interaction I had this morning. I’m very nauseous and have been all morning, so, as requested by my ETL the last time I called out, I called early this morning to let them know. (I don’t work until 3:15, but “The earlier I let them know the earlier they can find a replacement”-my boss)
I was IMMEDIATELY met with sass coming from the other end, calling me “unreliable” and that my “attendance was terrible” and that they needed the help because it was Friday. Mind you, the last time I called out was in JUNE. And I was REALLY sick-hospital for days with a parasite sick-AND THEY YELLED AT ME FOR NOT COMING TO WORK AND CALLING OUT. IT WAS ALL OF 2 DAYS AND I WAS ON THE FLOOR. So, because of that and calling out a few times before, I’m “unreliable” and need to “decide if target is the place for me”. While on the other hand, a friend I work with no-call-no-show’ed 3 times and no one has said a word to him. When I can’t make a shift I get it covered or I call out with plenty of forewarning, and I’m “unreliable”? I’m at work 5 minutes if not 15 minutes early and I stay as long as needed. I do whatever they ask and they run me over like this. It’s bullshit. So, now, I have to go work a fucking 6.75 hr shift as a cashier when I haven’t eaten in 2 days because they need the help and I cant afford to loose my job.
I’m so done it’s not even funny. After working there for a year and a half I’m treated like a FUCKING DOG and run into the ground because I can’t be there 13 hours a day like the rest of them are. Even though all they do is sit in their offices and bark orders at everyone over the walkie.

Same thing to me. They even put on all the walls, don't call in, be part of the solution. WTF? Oh so the application guide says if you are sick, please call in, we do not want other employees and guests to end up sick. Yet now they go against that? I have fatigue from a tumor, I can't stay awake that long as I just get tired fast so I do 4 and 5 hour days mostly. Oh and because I only work part time instead of full time now they always say oh you'll feel better after your break you're fine. Um no I'm not. Did you guys at target remember when you sent me to the hospital? Well they found that I have a tumor, that was at the job I was extremely tired than at hospital find tumor. It's like duh, direct connection I'm extreme fatigued > hospital > find tumor. So duh I have a tumor causing fatigue. Do they do anything if I get tired? No, not at all, they just say oh you can make it. Target is a bitch.
I recently saw a news report about the average person missing 1.5 days a year of work. The amount of days you have missed are questionable. The amount of days of worked I've missed in the last 7 years I can count on my fingers. Simply having an upset stomach does not mean your ill or contagious. Toughen up.
