Designated closer, wtf!?!
I’ve been working here for about 4 years now, and since I’m done with school, my boss keeps trying to pressure me to open my availability to close, which I know will mean he wants me to only be a closer: when I had a 3-10 availability, he translated it as 4-close, and Saturdays being my only ‘open availability’ day, he has put me on closing for the past 2 months.
How is that right, being considered the only one who can close?

Being as it's a varying hours type of job were they put new hours up every week, they should have variations in who closes. I know my store has me close about twice a week as cashier and than not for the rest of the days.
I understand the variable hours thing, but the question is why they think I'm the only one physically capable of closing?
Twice in recent weeks, I was in the same part of the store with a fellow closer...only for both times, the second closer was sent home for unknown reasons. Hell, one of those times, it was kept a secret that they sent her home early until she had told me the following week.
I'm getting the creeping suspicion that they want me to be a closer specifically because it allows them to keep certain people out of closing.
