I usually go to high end stores to shop even though I like Targets merchandise because of all the horror stories about how they treat employees. I witnessed this today in a CT store. I will not be more specific because I don’t want the employee to get in trouble for venting. First of all, as I was checking out, the cashier was rudely interrupted by the management staff. They told him “he was in trouble for calling in to say he’d be 15 min late.” In WHAT world do you get in trouble for calling in LATE one time. This is horrific. Secondly, he should have been spoken to in private. He told me he was not aware the rules had changed & that he would be in trouble for that. He told me “he wished he was dead since he got laid off in the recession and had to work at Target, & told me of some of the “rules,” that seemed more like slave labor mandates instead of “rules.” He was a very helpful man & extremely friendly before “the management team” came up and embarrassed him. I took his card and intend on helping him find a better job, considering that I am a high end professional in NYC. This is an outrage that an employee (who was also over the age of 60) was treated with such blatant disrespect. I will be filing a complaint to the better business bureau, returning the $300 in merchandise I bought, & will be spreading the word to my friends, family, & business associates to never shop at Target ANYWHERE anymore. You suck Target management, & should be praising your employees that work long hours for minimum wage.

This is a first! It's usually either a customer being treated horribly, or an employee treated horribly that complains. I think you're the first person standing up for somebody else being treated horribly. Thanks for the post!
yay the more people who spread the word about how bad tarshit is the better. The world needs to know how bad tarshit is.
Thank you for posting this! I'm so glad that there are people who actually pay attention and care. Warms the heart.
You're my fucking hero.
hmm who hit the dislike button? Our lovely troll cartman?
Hah, who knows. I don't think you need to be logged in to hit those buttons...and he certainly doesn't have an account here anymore. 🙂
