Target Sucks - We Hate Target and We Know We're Not Alone.

Bullshit Cashiers have to Deal With

I started as a seasonal worker in October and at first it was fun, making above minimum wage and working with other kids. But soon enough I learned Target culture, and here are some things I’m already sick of:

  • NOT A FAMILY: At Ralphs we all knew each other and liked each other, but everyone is so distant at Target and all they care about is the goddamn REDCard which brings me to my next point…
  • REDCard: The absolute, worst thing to happen. Not many people carry around blank checks anymore, people are now wary of their credit and don’t like to sign up for things, or people think it’s a rewards card. Plus, it bugs people to be bombarded with the sales pitch. I was training a new cashier and I watched her pitch and they told her she had to be really pushy so when a customer said they weren’t interested she says “What do you mean you’re not interested?! You’re missing out!”
  • Annoying ass GSTL: All they care about is meeting the REDCard quota and if you’re not harassing customers (not GUESTS!) you’re doing your whole job wrong.
  • Rude ass customers: Target seems to attract assholes who get angry when their Halloween clearance candy comes up at 5 cents more than the sign said.

This was all I could think of off the top of my head. What else do you guys hate about cashiering??!!

When I worked there it was you were a red card salesperson that also rang up people’s items. Constant “the sign said it was that price”. They wanted me to run sales pitches for everything to customers at checkout and wouldn’t even allow me to keep a water bottle at my register which was necessary due to all the taking they made me do.

Same with me, when I worked there it was all about the REDCARDS. I say fuck those REDCARDS. They don't give me anything for them. The tell me if we get our goal, they'll throw a pie in the manager's face or the manager will dress up like Bozo the clown. That makes me just ask about the REDCARDS and that's it. We don't get rewarded like we should or have any incentives, they just pat you on the back and say, I would like to recognize so and so for getting a redcard. The managers in the background jumping for joy. When they are really saying thanks for helping me buy my kids something for Christmas, thanks for helping me pay my mortgage or thanks, I can buy my wife something nice. They don't give a fuck about you. That's one ofthe reasons why I quit Target. One manager asked how can we motivate you to get REDCARDS, I said money talks and bullshit walks. I had to edit that so I don't get fired. I said money talks and the other stuff walks. If I didn't care about my job then I would have said what I meant. I can go on and on, but I have to go.
