Target Sucks - We Hate Target and We Know We're Not Alone.

Brain washed 21 year old Senior Team Lead, 22 year old ETL, 27 year old STL.. Why age matters!

I’m 31 but feel like I’m 50 because the lack of experience in some of these positions is kind of sickening, and the workers filling them are brain washed idiots who have such little work experience they just regurgitate the salaried management videos. There are so many times a manager doesn’t get how to do simple tasks, but wants to pretend to be a leader at Target. It’s pretty funny, but also ridiculous. I have 20 something in every level of management at my store, and while you say I’m not much older in years…. well I have spent my working years in retail where clearly many of these “leaders” have not. They make silly decisions, and have egos about being the one to say what will get done, it’s just a bad structure for business. It will implode and hopefully I will be done with my masters and moved on to a career by then!

It's funny how a 21-year old ETL tried to give me a difficult time, yet I asked him simple questions about his department. He honestly had no idea. I asked "Do you know what you are doing?". He got puffy and asked "Do you know who I am?"; I laughed and said "yes; that's why I just asked you if you knew what you were doing". He went speechless, because he knows that I don't respect his position. Most of these 20-somethings have no idea what they are doing; they are nothing more than glorified baby-sitters. I need leaders who know what they are doing, not ones who just have the word "leader" attached to their name badge.

We have this 22 year old lady that just got her first job here at Target. She just got out of college and they are fast tracking her through the process. At 36, I have more experience than she has been alive. When I asked HR about this, they said that Target doesn't care about your work experience and it not only doesn't factor into your starting wage but it also doesn't factor in when trying for advancement. Apparently, being stuck in a class room for 4 years while mom and dad pay for your school has more clout than people whom are less fortunate and excel at doing what they do. The moment she tries telling me what to do, I am out of there.
