Target Sucks - We Hate Target and We Know We're Not Alone.

The Only Thing Target Understands is…

…money. What we need to do as employees is to hit Target where it hurts. Specifically, we need to be able to nail them on labor law violations and then either turn them in to the proper authorities, or better yet find a lawyer and sue them if you have standing. This is going to require everyone to document everything that happens DAILY. Write down everything that seems relevant; dates, times and places.

We need to read up on the labor laws, and know our rights. There are Federal and State laws designed to protect us as employees. A little solidarity between employees wouldn’t hurt either. From what I’ve seen, every TL and ETL (including HR) are on the same page with each other. We need to be the same way.

Venting is fine, but really what ultimately needs to happen is unionization, or at least some ground needs to be given to the employees of Target in the form of better benefits, working conditions and wages.

It’s pretty depressing right now as a poverty-level wage slave. Everyone at my store seems to be throwing each other under the bus. There are many who are straight up rats. They run to management if they see or hear something that is against corporate policy, or if it’s something they think will score them favors from management. Little do they know they’re being used like a rag.

That’s my 2 cents, what do you guys think?

While I agree with you that something needs to happen, it's been discussed on this site several times before. Ultimately what it boils down to is: we need these shitty jobs until we can find something else.

Venting, protesting (for one day) and bringing up concerns to management are all technically legal under the National Labor Relations Act (http://www.nlrb.gov/poster), but Target (in my state at least) is at-will and can terminate you for any reason or for no reason.

What I would personally like to see is a protest outside of the Minneapolis HQ, but I know that's going to be difficult for a lot of us since we're all poor (thanks Target).

Another thing we can do is, as you said, document EVERYTHING and then email whatever news sites the results. The big media probably won't listen, but there's probably some smaller publications that will.

Lastly there's always word of mouth. Tell everyone you know how Target treats people and what your experiences have been and let it spread like a plague.

Target's reputation is already in the red, so we just need to deliver the killing blow.

I am beginning to wonder who this 1 Dislike Bandit is. Each new post receives 1 dislike......
Anyhow, yes, to achieve something we must all come together as one, like minded individuals sharing a common ideal and hunger for justice.
