Target Sucks - We Hate Target and We Know We're Not Alone.

I’m out

God this is a horrible company to work for. I’ve been at this hellhole for a while now working primarily as cashier but closing guest service on the weekends. Is it just me or do people who close get locked inside the store when they are off and have to wait for an LOD to let them out? It happens I want to say atleast half the times I close and it’s the worst. Then you try and voice your concern and the baby faced LOD out of some shitty party school will give you some convulated answer to cover up her own retardedness. This is what primarily makes me want to leave. The manangement system at tarshit is one of the worst. What genius came up with the plan to hire recent college grads with no experience to run a giant retail store? Not just with etls, GSTLS at my store also seem to be promoted from the younger cashiers. We have one guy who made GSTL simply because he pushes redcards out of every orifice of his body. This guy will push and push redcards on anyone, I’ve personally seen this asshole try and trick a teenager buying some reeeses into applying for a redcard. Like forreal man? You’re going to ruin this kids credit man so he can save 5 cents? What a piece of shit. Anyway I’m done with the rant and wanted to ask you guys the best ways to quit

All they care about is red cards. You can bust your'e ass for 8 hours and no one cares. Get 3 red cards everyone freaks out.

I can't emphasize how accurate your statement is. Every day I spent working for this shitty company as a cashier, I would go the extra mile to make sure hand baskets were cleared from my co-workers' registers, sometimes fill up the bag holders in surrounding stations, kept my area clean, etc. Oh but wait, because I didn't get a red card every hour none of that mattered in the managers' eyes.

It's stupid how people who do nothing but red card applications and spend 45 min on their every 2 hour breaks are praised left and right, yet others who bust their asses but don't pretend the red card is a rewards card get written up against company policy. Shouldn't the people who don't do shit at work and deceive guests be the ones getting written up and not so much the real workers? I'd say that's some backwards ass bullshit and a sign of a terribly run business.

Fuck Target. Anyone with real ambition and who wants to go anyplace in life needs to run away from this place like it's the plague!

There's an older lady who tries to deceive people about it (making them think it's a rewards card you scan and pay with your regular card) and steals red card applications from all the other cashiers at my former store. She also does almost nothing but red cards and gossip while she's at work, all the while taking her 15s for 45 min at a time. Did I mention she's been there for over 10 years and most of the managers love her only because of red cards and therefore let her do whatever?

It doesn't pay to be a good worker at this place but it does to instead push red cards onto people even if it means lying about what it really is. Ugh, at my old employer you got written up for no red cards in certain time period. Ridiculous reason to get written up, which is by the way no where in anyone's job description (the part where you must fulfill a certain red card applications quota on a weekly and even daily basis). So glad to be Audi of that shitty place.

my former gstl pushes and pushes them onto people. But she didn't try pushing it on me the last time I was at her till. She probably thought i was still jobless. 😉

Seriously the whole RedCard/Survey thing is so bogus. How come neither item appears in the weekly flyer or on TV commercials? Yet they leave this "vital" information to the cashiers... Yet another stupid management decision.

I'm not sure why but my store management team told us to not mention the surveys anymore. May be it's because they have a tiny bit of sense, clearly enough to realize how much breath ppl waste mentioning surveys they usually don't take like 99% of the time. Like with every other business that has some sort of survey + possible incentive for taking such, let the customer decide if it's worth their time or not. No one likes being hassled about the totally obvious ways to save, surveys, etc. every day they shop at the same place. Whoever thought forcing cashiers to waste their breath and time on mentioning all this unnecessary shit should be fired. Just MHO though....

would being all over rfd help? 🙂 rfders price match the loss leaders of all the stores around at target . use the red card for a few more pennies off. it adds up you know. And then viola! pay and save at target's expense. since the Canadian version gets you the 5 % discount in the us as well, target gets to pay our forex fees. 5% discount - 2.5% forex fee= 2.5 % discount altogether. 🙂

LOL the red card is hardly worth the trouble. I can only ever want to recommend the debit card. 5% savings, 19-22% interest rate, that fee you mentioned for Canadian shoppers in the US, all for the lousy credit card. Fuck that shit...

  • Silverfox says:

the point is to pay off the card instantly so you get the discount and target doesn't make money off you but loses it instead

Charge companies still get transaction fees. So if you use their card instead of a Visa or something, they save the finance charge they would have had to pay Visa. So even if they pay it off right away, it still works out in tarshit's favor.

      • Silverfox says:

Might work in their favor but I did say loss leaders. The stuff stores lose money on to lure people into their stores. People are pricematching those and using the red card get an extra discount on them. Of course no one in their right mind would buy their non loss leaders. Besides which, a fee that any other canadian card would have to pay aside from the sears chase mastercard and amazon chase visa card is paid by target to to Canadian shoppers via the red card discount if canadians use the canadian rbc version.
